That was Britney Spears with "Hit Me Baby One More Time." You are listening to Z2000 FM, music for the new millennium. And now, all of you members of Generation X out there, here's a blast from the past. This one is coming at you from almost 25 years ago, straight from the heart of the electric '80s. Remember, there were no cell phones in the '80s, so put those devices away, and there will be a short intermission between Acts 1 and 2. This is the era that gave you MC Hammer, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Stone Wash Denim, and of course, the Rubik's Cube. Welcome to Back to the '80s! Welcome, gentlemen, to my graduating class from William Ocean High School. And that little dude, well, that's me, Cory Palmer, voted the boy most likely to be married by the age of 21. And those two, they were my best friends, Kirk Heegan and Alf Buick. Look at us, I mean, those were the days when Macs and root beer was cool and the Atari was cutting-edge technology. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Sure, over the last decade, some of those names have gotten a little vague, and I haven't seen some of those faces since graduation. But when I look back at the school photos, I can still remember what every one of them was like, and I can't help wondering where they are now. And out of all those faces, there's still one that gives me chills to this day. Tiffany Houston. Tiffany was the girl next door. No, I mean that she actually lived next door to me. She was the most beautiful girl in the whole school, if not the whole world. She was also the first girl who ever broke my heart. Of course, there are many others who make up our graduating class. Michael Feldman and the cool guys, Tiffany's best friend Cindy Gibson, and of course, our class geek, Fergal Robert McFerg III. So there we were. It was the start of our senior year. Junior High was nothing more than a distant memory. We were young, naive, and we were having the time of our lives. Down below the cars in the city go by. I sit here alone and I wonder why. Friday night and everyone's moving. I can feel the heat but it's soothing. Go down. I search for a beat and they show me downtown. The hours are flowing downtown. The hours are flowing with the kids in the park. Whoa, with the kids in a merry go round. Like, if you lose a bit faster, look boy, I'll check on your watch on a third glance. I'm not leaving now, honey, not a chance. Hotshot, shiny, go pop pop. Much later, baby, you'll be saying never mind. We're the kids, we're the kids we're the kids in America we're the kids, we're the kids we're the kids in America America what city can you see? We're the kids. We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America. We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America. America, what city can you see? We're the kids! Hello everyone and welcome to your final year here at William Ocean High. All right, Principal Ron McDonald couldn't be here this morning, but he asked me to give you all a big William Ocean High. For those new students, my name is Mr. Cocker, and I'm the head of— we talked about this— I am the head of the math department here at William Ocean High. All right, I'd also like to take this opportunity to introduce you to your senior student coordinator, Miss Brennan. Thank you, Mr. Cocker. Our first job this year is to select our senior year president The 3 candidates running are Corey Palmer, Michael Feldman, and Ramona Farron. Now, Election Day is next Friday, and that is when each of the candidates will be giving their Election Day presentations. But for now, I would like each candidate to come up to the front and— class, Corey, can you start us off? Hi everyone, as you know, my name is Tori Palmer and I'd like to introduce my two best friends and VPs, Alf Bugler and Kirk Keating. We have some very exciting plans for our senior year, including some secret ideas we've been working on. Trust me, they will blow you away. We will be revealing them next Friday at the rally. Yeah! And in closing, let me just say that this will be an awesome final year, and Alf Kirk and I will do everything we can to make sure we are remembered as the best graduating class from William Rosen High! Our next candidate is Michael Feldman. Michael Feldman, the coolest guy at school. Movie star, most unnatural athlete, captain of the football team, and most impressively of all, all the girls threw themselves at him. Michael and his friends are the kind of guys that someone like me can never hope to compete with. My fellow seniors, this school year is going to be awesome! Now let me introduce you to the only team worthy of being your student leaders. Just in case you've been living under a rock the last 5 years, my name is Michael Feldman. My VPs will be Billy Arnold, Tiffany Houston, and Cindy Gibson. But I'm sure you guys know, introduction, right guys? Stop! Stop! Explain it all! And that is Cindy Gibson. She was the kind of girl who could say whatever she wanted, and she knew it. She also knew how popular she was with the boys. Personally, I would have been happy with one girlfriend, just one, but Cindy, she had dated every member of the football team at some stage or another. Why don't you all just grow up and get busy? We're called seniors for a reason. At Rally Day, you will hear our full proposal and guides. You'd better be there because there will be cheerleaders! That is why I am letting you know this. Now let me leave you with this, friends. If you elect me as president, I will make sure that Windermere Shire High will rock! We're seniors, students, let's make this the most radical year of our lives! Thank you, Michael. We shall wait with bated breath, I am sure. Our third and final candidate is Fergal McFerrin. Quiet please, I have some very important information to impart. And then there was Fergal Robert McFerrin, sir. Alf Kirk and I may not have been as cool as Michael in this game, but compared to Fergal, we are Michael Jackson, Michael J. Fox, and Rick Astley rolled into one. I'm sure every school had someone like him, the guy who doesn't quite fit in, Virgil is the kind of guy who can bring a feeling of happiness and laughter into a room simply by leaving it. Senior class, my name is Virgil Bobby McFerrin III, and I believe technology is the way to the future. I would like to introduce my VPs, Laura Weil and Debbie Fox. Senior class, A recent study has shown that if the current silicon chip technology continues to grow at its current exponential rate, we could have computers twice, maybe even three times the power of a Commodore 64 sitting on our desks. And that's just the beginning! We could get all the computers in the world talking to each other using hyper-digital protocols. The OS will be a red, flaming circle. I'm sure you will tell us all about it on election day. Miss Brannigan, I haven't finished yet. Now just remember, attendance is mandatory. For Election Day is compulsory. I will see you all there. Well, I think that went exceptionally well. Hey, Tiffany! Hey, Cory, how you doing? Pretty good. Good, I'm doing good. How come you weren't home yesterday? We were going to shoot some moves with you. I was at the store shopping with my mom. Cool. Yeah. Um, hey, I can't believe it's finally our senior year! It's gonna be so awesome! Yeah, I'm having a blast! Um, hey, Cory, tell me honestly, there's this guy— oh heck, I'm just gonna come straight out with it— do you think Mike Feldman likes me? Cindy thinks he has a crush on me. Oh, um, I don't know. I mean, he probably does, I guarantee you. I mean, you're intelligent and funny very pretty. Oh, Michael's such a sweet guy. And he's pretty cute, don't you think? Oh, um, I don't know, I haven't really noticed. His ears are probably big. Hey Tiffany, I want you to meet some friends of mine from dance class. They're going to be a senior year at Lake Ocean. This is Mel and this is Kim, the twins. Isn't that neat? Hi! Everyone just calls us Mel and Kim. Cool! Hey, this is my neighbor Cory. Hey, Cory. So, give us a walk through this place. Who are those cute guys over there? Yeah, they're so hot! Well, girl, that's Michael Thelma, the most radical guy at this school. The guy next to him is Billy Arnold. He's got a crush on me. The other two are Lionel and Huey. Hey, make that 6 out of 11, those two! Hey girls, what's going on? I'm Michael. Michael, this is Mel and this is Kim. They're twins. Twins? Do they have different fathers or something? Shut up, Chewie! I mean, look at us. Anyway, me and the guys are going to go roller skating Friday night. You want to come along? That'd be pretty cool. That sounds great! Yeah, that'd be cool. Hey, Pip, how was your summer? It was awesome! I had such a great time. How come you guys weren't at any of the parties? We were all working. Somebody has to keep this country running. Well, they were wild. I didn't get home till 6 AM one morning. My parents are such a drag. I come home in the morning, like my mom says, when you're done, live your life, night. Only you are not the fortunate ones. And girls, they want to have fun. Oh, girls just want to have fun. Yeah, they do. The phone rings in the middle of the night. My heart yells, what you gonna do before Oh, Daddy dear, you know you're still number one. But girls, we want to have fun. Oh, girls just want to have fun. That's all we really want. Want some fun. When the working day is done, oh girls, they want to have fun. Oh, girls just want to have fun. They want to have fun. They want to have fun. Well, you guys should just be thankful you were able to have some fun all this time. Yeah, we were working the whole time. It was exhausting. Well, you must have gone out to a couple of parties. No, we all had summer jobs. I thought about working at the Hoopla all summer, the record store. The Hoopla? I guess you've got it. We got all our daddy will pay for. For us while we go out partying. Wait, wait, wait, wait, what drugstore do you work at again? The Moon Club down in the city. Moon Club? That place is a dive. I can't stand the losers that hang around there. It's wicked. We get a job and listen to music all day, and we get paid for it. Work sounds like a drag. I gotta get my car somehow. Yeah, you girls just wait till our band gets played on the radio. We'll be able to buy anything anything we want. Cool, what's your band called? Marconi. Marconi? What does that mean? I don't know, just sounded cool. It doesn't. Why don't you change it to something actually cool like Boys to Men or Morgan State? Hey, what about the The Backstreet Boys. Like Maroon 5 or something? Like Maroon 5? Is any better? Well, it was either that or the Spice Boys. This band is going to be huge. First, it'll pay for my car. Then it's going to pay for my mansion. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. Built this city the place me in the hoopla Beginning your fight Too many runways eating up the night Mar Listen to the radio do your letter we built this city we built this city on rocket —place. Maybe pick up a book, love, speaking in your fight. Too many runaways eating up the night. Mark only place above mark. Listen to the radio, talk your letter. We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. Built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. Aces and Knotters on Main. In the tight old streets. Police forgot to show up. The way it used to be. Who counts the money underneath the bar? Who drives the wrecking ball into our guitar? Don't tell us you need us, 'cause we're the simple fools looking for America. Come on into your schools, watch how we play some mama. Listen to the radio, Thought you'd never. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. Evil being evil eats it hard out. Hi! Hi, guys! What took you so long? Sorry, I was coming off of this awesome election campaign. Just one second, I'm gonna go say hi to Tiffany. Hey, hey, girls! Oh, hey, Lori! Hi, Cory! Great bike! Oh, um, thanks. I might be getting a new one for my birthday. So, how you doing? Pretty good. What are you guys up to? Oh, we're just waiting for Michael and the others to finish football practice. Yeah, anyways, hey Tiffany, wanna come over tomorrow and shoot some hoops? Uh, sorry Cory, but I'm going to watch Michael and the guys play football. Maybe after school sometime next week. Oh, okay. Well, I'd better be getting back. We're supposed to be working on our election campaign. Oh, how's that going? Will you? We've got some really cool ideas. I don't know why you even bother, Cory. Everybody knows that Michael, Tiffany, and I are gonna win. Cindy, we don't know that. So— Yeah, right. So how's your campaign going? Um, okay. It would be better if we could ever get Michael to sit down and talk to us about it. Well, I better be getting back to it. Check you later. Bye! Hey, okay, I'm back. Hey, did you see the A-Team yesterday? Of course I did! What you looking at, fool? Guys, come on, let's concentrate. Punching day's tomorrow. What you talking about with this? Hey, Gordy, pull my finger. Please, please, don't look afraid. What? I was just joking around. Whoa, dude, you're pretty tense. You need to chill out. Sorry guys, it's just this election is really important to me. I mean, it's our senior year, man. We'll remember the rest of our lives. Yeah, it is flying by already. Soon enough we'll be living in the '90s. I wonder what it'll be like. I think we'll live in flying saucers and humans will be able to fly just like the greatest American hero. We won't be able to fly, but cars will talk to us like on Knight Rider. David Hasselhoff is so He said, "Man, actually guys, I don't think a lot will change. We won't be flying, our cars won't talk, and people will still live in houses. David Hasselhoff will still be cool, but only in Germany." Yeah, and the Russians will be our friends. But you know what? By year 2000, computers will be running our lives. We'll all have mobile telephones that will bit into the palms of our hands. Virgil, you're nuts! Like that stuff's ever gonna happen. A prophet is always mocked in his own lifetime. Yes? Oh my gosh, I have to go! I'm developing some software that will enable computers to talk to each other at Bill's house. Argosy, he's such a nerd! How can you spend that kind of time with him? He is a genius! One day we're both gonna make a lot of money out of computers. Mark my words. Okay, come on guys, we don't have much time. Sir, are you finally gonna tell us what this mystery idea is? Well, my friends, we're gonna hold a concert at the school. A concert? Why? To raise money. Our school is always short on money, right? Okay, so here's the plan. Remember her USA for Africa campaign with my name? Yeah, of course. Well, we're gonna host a concert like that. We'll dress up like Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper. Then we'll charge people money to come see it. Hey, that is a pretty good idea. Yeah, and then we can tell everybody that all the money we raise will go towards hosting the biggest prom night this city has ever seen. Now you get the idea, dude. I love it when a plan comes together. Look, they're finished with it. Michael! Oh, hey girls. Michael, we're gonna go get changed. We need to start working on our election stuff before you and those guys have already done a bunch of work. Okay, fine. You go to your house. I'll meet you there in about half an hour. Okay, see you then. Hey Palmer, how's your election campaign going? It's okay. Is that it? It might be. Oh, I'm so sorry. Let me help you with that. No, no, it's fine. It's fine. I can do it myself. We'll just leave it. Hey, good luck tomorrow. Hope you can handle the humiliation of coming in second. God, he's such a jerk. We gotta blend! All right, everyone please settle down. All right, today is one of the most important days of your senior year. By the end of today, you will know who your senior president is. The proposals from each of the candidates. Michael Feldman has volunteered to go first, so without any further ado, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our first candidate, Mr. Michael Feldman. Fellow students, let me urge you All the pretty ladies wipe away your tears. Your future friends have a story to tell. And all those loser creeps can go back out. Allow me to state, my fellow candidate, here's how I'm gonna make Ocean High great. We are the world, USA for Africa, we're working to make ourselves replica. We'll put on a concert to rock this school. We'll raise some money, make our prom night cool. Our prom can be the best you've ever seen if you put your vote behind the Phil and team. May you see more You all pray and kiss them babies, well I'm gonna get my hopes back kissing ladies. So form up, Jew, at the end of the line and vote one Feldman, your lips are mine. At the end of the day, the facts are clear, there's only one reason why you all came here. Palmers are geek, Fergus is a fool, only Michael Feldman can save us all. Wonderful presentation. I'm not really surprised by you. What are we gonna do? Michael has stolen our whole proposal! I don't know! Maybe I should drop out. I can tell them I don't want to run anymore. You can't do that, it's too late. You have to say something. Our next candidate is Corey Palmer. Corey, is your team ready? Uh, good luck. Was it, um, can I— If you vote for me, it will be really, really— I, I don't guess I don't have anything else. That's okay. Thank you, Cory, for that brief proposal. Now for our third and final candidate, please welcome Fergal McFerrin. All right, girls, you saw what Michael did for his presentation. We need to dress this baby up. So just follow whatever I do and back me up. What do you mean? You'll see. Mike is not the only one who can rock this establishment. My fellow seniors, this school has to be technologically advanced. If you vote for me, we will buy hundreds of computers, printers, and state-of-the-art software. We are entering the information age and we must keep up with it. My friends, My friends, I am about to introduce to you the future. Virgil, what the heck is that? This, my good man, is called a CD. A what? A CD, a compact disc. This baby is gonna change the face of music as we know it. Um, yeah, right, how? CDs are gonna eradicate cassette tapes, which will become completely obsolete. But what about all my Billy Vanilli tapes? Well, you'll be able to buy them on CD. This is never going to take off, or we'll stop wasting our time. You can mock me, but I'm telling you, CDs will eradicate cassette tapes the same way micro waves have replaced conventional lights. If we don't keep up with technology, we will become as obsolete as the humble fireplace. I know you want to know why this cat called me P2O, lying in a wig intently tuning in on the news. If I was young, you didn't stop me. Coming through. Oh, they took the credit for your second symphony. They ripped and punched it, technology. And now you're under different problems, you can see. Oh, I met your children. Oh, what did you tell them? Did you kill the radio star? Did you kill the radio star? In my mind and in my And now we meet in Elephant Studio. We hear the playback and it seems long ago. And we remember, Jingles used to go, oh, you were the first one, oh, you were the last one. Video killed the radio star, video killed the radio star. In my mind and in my heart, He can't remind me, he's gone too far. Video killed the radio star. Video killed the radio star. In my mind and in my car, we can rewind, we've gone too far. Pictures came and broke her heart, put the flame on this PR. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome this year's Vice President, Tiffany Houston, and this year's Senior President, Michael Feldman. I am a radio star. And so that was that. Michael became president by stealing my idea. I never told Tiffany what had happened. She never would have believed me anyways. After election day, I found solace in Kirk and Alf, but I couldn't help feeling disappointed. Maybe it was the election or just the pressures of senior year, but it was around this time that I started having nightmares. It's all tied up in the 10th inning. Alf Buehler steps up to the plate. There's the pitch. Buehler swings. He connects! It's sailing over the fence! The Orioles won the World Series! Congratulations, DiMaggio! Man, can you guys imagine a world without baseball? That would suck. What are you talking about? A world without baseball? I don't know. Some of that stuff Fertl said got me thinking. What if everything we love is replaced in the future? What are you going on about now? Well, what if there's no such thing as Pac-Man and Space Invaders in a couple of Don't worry, dude, cool stuff like that will never be replaced. Yeah, man, some things are so cool they'll be here forever. Like Hyper Color Teesler and TMU Ninja Turtles! Heroes in a half shell! Turtle power! Hahaha, don't fuck up, dude! Hey, how good are the graphics on the new Atari? Whoa! Yeah! What about the new colors? Red, green, and blue! Kurt, you're gonna waste your life on that thing. You're never gonna get it out. I've always got one side cut. Just pull the stickers off. Do you guys think who would win in a fight between Darth Vader and Yoda? Man, Yoda was too short and old. Darth would kill him in no time. Yeah, I guess you're right. But what if Yoda was like a couple hundred years younger and like really tough? Man, Darth would still Yeah. Hey, but what if Darth had a cold and he wasn't feeling very well? What if Darth Vader took a lightsaber and he sucked it up your— Hey, hey! Jeez, lay off the Star Wars. You must have seen those movies like 20 times each. I'm telling you, the stars are doing weird things to my head. What do you mean? I don't know. Corey? Well, it's just— I keep having these dreams that— that I'm Luke Skywalker. Hard to see the dark side in this! You can only use the Force. You can only use the Force! All YouTubers talk about it! Ewoks and lightsabers! We do not! That's not all we talk about. Yeah, we talk about lots of other stuff, like, like girls and stuff. Yeah, like when? Hey, uh, it's getting pretty late. I guess I better get going. Yeah, my mom will be getting pretty worried about me. I'll see you guys tomorrow at school. Yeah, nah, it's my day off. Oh, well, have a good day off too. Hey Cory, remember just one thing: divorce don't be licking lollies. The truth is I only told them half the story. Every night I dreamed that Tiffany and I were dancing through life together, hand in hand. I was in the sky hopper and she was my Princess Leia. Good night, my princess. Barely a night went by and I did not have that dream. Just the light of your day, you come out of the blue, breaking me out of the spell I was in, making all of my wishes come true. Believe it or not, I'm walking on air. Never thought I could feel so free. Find a way, follow me and dare. Too good to be true. Believe it or not, just trust me. This is too good to be true. Look at me, falling for you. Believe it or not, And so the year The adventure continued. After our winter break, a new girl arrived at William Ocean High School. Alright, um, Billy Arnold. Oh, present. Lionel Astley. Oh, present. Alf Bueller. Bueller. Euler. Euler. It's his day off, sir. Miss Fredrickson. Okay everyone, I would like you all to welcome a new student to our school. Her name is Eileen. Please make her feel welcome. Let's show her how friendly we are after emotion high. Eileen, do you want to say hi? Hi, my name is Eileen. Good girl. Yes, I am sure that you will all make an effort to talk to Eileen and that she will fit in in no time. Okay, just one more announcement to make. Mr. Miyagi Mr. Rob Bagley has asked me to remind you all that his bonsai class will be held today at lunchtime in room 2B. Or not 2B. I don't know. Princess alert. Okay, anyway, just open to page 13 and continue on quietly. Hi, I'm Corey, and this is Kirk. Welcome to Wayland Shore High. Thanks. Hey, I'm Tiffany, and these are my best friends. Best friends Cindy, Mel, and Kim. How do you like your school so far? It's pretty good, I guess. Hopefully it'll feel like home soon. Hey, who do you have on your folder? Ericsson. Ericsson! I'm all out of love! I'm so lucky to have you! It's a really cool band. Cindy gets in. Quiet! Don't worry, they're about my size. He has no room. Yeah, I hope so. Uh-oh. Hi, I'm Laura. And I'm Debbie. Welcome to Holy Motion High School. You think Laura and Debbie are weird? You know what, I was going past Debbie's house the other day and I saw her through a window kissing a pole. Poster of Corey Haim. I mean, her entire room is covered with posters of Anthony Michael Hall and Don Johnson. And you won't believe this— the Proclaimers! Ah, the Proclaimers! God, they're too— you know, Tiffany said she had a thing for them as well. I can't believe all these girls think they're so cute. They just look like two scrunchy pieces of plastic to me. That poor chick has no clue who she's making friends with. Lauren and Debbie are a joke. Neither of them have ever even had a boyfriend. Girlfriends. Hey Kirk, we've never had girlfriends. No. Yeah. But at least we don't make them up! Hey, that's true! You gotta talk to Mr. Crocker. Oh, yeah. Mr. Crocker? Mr. Crocker? Yes, Corey, what would you like? Ah, well, it's been a long time since the elections for president, and, uh, Michael has decided he he doesn't want to do the concert anymore because he's so busy with football. He hasn't told us that yet. Yes. Well, I really like the idea, and I was hoping you'd let me put on a concert. Great idea! I won't forget about it. Well, maybe you can pretend the concert's your idea and tell everyone about it and commercials. That's perfect. Okay, um, but this didn't Cori has decided to put on a concert for all of you. You should be very proud. Do you have a boyfriend? Oh, well, I did, but we had to break up when I came here. He was my longest boyfriend, and we'd gone out for 2 whole weeks. It was way too easy. That is serious. I had boyfriends. Um, the first one was Elton John. And the following? Joking. Yeah, I've had many boyfriends. Are you dating anyone at the moment? Yeah, of course. His name is Don. He's an actor. And he's gorgeous. Yeah, and I'm dating someone called Anthony. You're so old. When do I get to meet them? Probably not for a while. Um, they're both in Miami. Yeah, I'm busy. Oh, well, try to write them. Let's see. This should be interesting. —My baby takes a morning drink. He works from 9 to 5, and he takes another morning nap to find me waiting for him. My baby takes a morning drink. He works from 9 He rose from night to fire and then he takes another walk again to find he's waiting for him. All day and in the rain, he's been passing clean. I'm crazy in love with him and he's crazy mad about me. When he steps off that train, he's moving forward, I find. He gets up day, tonight it's day, and he can play all night. My baby takes a morning sleep, he works from 9 to 5, and then he takes another longer nap. To find me waiting for him. My baby takes a morning train, he works from 9 to 5, and then he takes another home again to find me waiting for him. Mom! Surprise! Hi, sweetie. What's this for? What? You didn't think I'd forget about our 1-year anniversary, did you? Well— What? No! I'm shocked. You hurt my feelings now. I'm sorry, sweetie. Baby, how can I make it up to you? No, way too late. But listen, there is just one thing you could do. If you gave me one little kiss. Oh, really? Maybe. Stevie, no, that's cool, that's amazing. Sees us. Come on, just live on the wild side for a change, you know. Danger's my middle name. First, they open up real and badly. They're making mincemeat of him. Who is it this time? Michael and Billy? Uh, Brittany and Christina, two of the little junior girls. Hey, wait up! Hurry up! There'll be nothing left of him! I, I will sit through this. You go home, get ready, and I'll pay you a visit. Okay, it's a deal. No, it's a date. Well, maybe it was something in the air. I mean, when Connor's getting lucky, you never know your luck. I don't know whether it was false confidence or a moment of insane dating madness. But in the middle of our final year at senior school, I finally decided that I had had enough. I was going to let Tiffany know my true feelings for her. Right, Rob, this is it. Are you sure you want to do this? I, I don't know, but hey, her video, right? Right, right. I mean, she thinks the Proclaimer twins are cute Right? Right. Surely I'm better than those Scottish geeks, right? Right, right. These guys, thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately, my timing could not have been any worse. That was the very day that Michael Feldman decided to let Tiffany know that in his mind, she belonged to him. Right, guys? How do I look? You have no problems. You aren't Michael Feldman, remember? Are you sure? You don't want to borrow my Michael Jackson glove? No, I think I'm fine. Oh, I see you. I hear you guys know what I'm hearing. Too smooth. Yeah. All right, here it goes. Hey, hey, can you see? I can see you. Oh, I know I'm going to be, I'm going to be the man who wakes up next to you. And when I go out, well, I know I'm going to be, I'm going to be the man who goes home with you. And when I get drunk, yes, I know I'm going to be, I'm going to be the man who gets up next to you. And if I get hurt, well, I know I'm going to be, I'm going to be the man who stays And I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more, just to be the man to walk that thousand miles to fall down at your door. When I go out, when I go out, yes, I know I'm going to be, I'm going to be the man who goes along with you. And when I come home, when I come home, yes, I know I'm going to be, I'm going to be the man who comes back home to you. I'm going to be the man who comes home to you. And I will walk 500 miles and I will Would walk 500 more just to feed a man. Would walk 1,000 miles to fall down at your door. And I would walk 500 miles. And I would walk 500 more. Can you feed a man who walks a thousand miles to fold a napkin? Ridiculous. But I thought you said that proclamations were cute. You, yes, told me that too. Well, I do, but in a long-distance kind of way. How would you like it if I got dressed up like Madonna and was walking around the streets? Yeah, girl. Look, Cory, you're very sweet and you're like a brother to me, but I just can't go out with you. I'm sorry, but Michael is the guy I want to be with, and I just can't see myself ever feeling that way. About you. Hey, there's plenty of other fish in the sea. You'll catch yourself one. You're to blame, you give love a bad name. I'll live up to the part and play your game. You give love a bad name, you give love a bad name. Alright, can we pause the lecture and read it to me? To my dear Ivy— Not "darling." Make it "to my darling Ivy." Just cut away. To my darling Eileen, the power of love is a curious thing. Makes one man weep, makes another man sing. Ever since I saw you, I've been walking on sunshine. Believe it or not, I'm walking on air. Never thought I could feel so free. I've got a feeling I'm dancing on the ceiling. I've got my mind set on you, and they'll never tear us apart. You're a crazy, having doors. You're a powerful force. You used You still look good to me, but now I find you simply irresistible. From your secret admirer. P.S., every step you take, every breath you make, I'll be watching. Well, we were told to make you feel welcome. Hey guys, how come women don't need a driver's license? How come? Well, because there's no rooms in between the laundry room and the kitchen. Hello, Tina. Hello, Stunner. Hey, QB, how come you're so quiet? I think cock is gonna get me in trouble with my parents. Wait, why? What happened? I'm trying to forget about it. Oh, come on, spill it, man. Honey, what's that? Oh, nothing. You can throw that behind your back. Oh, this? Okay, well, you caught me with this magazine. Just some piece of trash that I confiscated from you, Jackson. Just— no, really, it was this old swimsuit catalog I found in my dad's car. What, you're kidding? From like 1975 or something. Well, the vet talker's in his office right now, alone with the legacy. Totally honest, man. Cool checking you out. Quick, laugh! I don't want to be silly like those guys would ever take me out. What's this? Oh my God! Honey, it's not what you think. You mean this isn't you in this magazine? Well, this is you! I was 18, I had no money. You're nude! Every breath you take, every step you make, I'll be watching you. I wonder what's wrong. I've got no idea. I am not nude, I'm in a swimsuit! Well, A half a swimsuit? One year we've been together and you've never told me? I tried to, but I was too embarrassed. I can never look at you the same again. What will my mother say? Look, I was 18. It was a lifetime ago. No, Julia. You lied to me. I never lied to you. Please, it's not that big a deal. Oh, really? Look at that stupid photo! But it says "Sound Gracie" on it. Now we all have boyfriends. I don't want to see you tonight. I need time to think. Stevie! Stevie! You give love a bad name. Shot through the heart and yours too, babe. You give love a bad name. I play my part and you play your game. You give love a bad name. You give love a bad name. Ladies and gentlemen, we live in an era of change. Here in the United States, we have luxuries that some countries in this world can only dream about. Things like TV, computers, and movies. But there are some countries in this world who can't even afford food. Food for their children. Yes, I am sure that you all know that there are countries in Africa like Ethiopia that are at the point of total starvation. I'm sure you all remember how Bob Geldof organized Band Aid in London as well as USA for Africa concerts which were held at home. I guess so. Corey Kohler has suggested that this school stage a concert of our own in order to raise money for these countries. Mr. Cocker and I think it is a wonderful idea, so rehearsals will start tomorrow and we would like you all to be involved. So what do we think of this, guys? Come on, you're not just citizens of the United States of America, you're citizens of the world. Come on, this is your chance to make a difference. If we all work together, get out of here. We can make a change. I'm going to make a change. It's going to feel really good. Make a difference. Going to make it right. Winter cold, this wind is blowing my mind. I think we need to breathe. Not enough to eat. Who am I to be blind, pretending not to see their needs? A summer's disregard, a broken bottle top, and one man's war. They follow each other on the windy road. No message could have been any clearer. If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then be that thing. Come on! Bite. —when you're heading up there, baby, don't ever look back. Let the world around us just fall apart. Maybe we can make it if we're hard to heart. And we can build this thing together, standing strong forever. Nothing's gonna stop us now. And if this world comes out of lovers, we'll still have each other. Nothing's gonna stop us. Nothing's gonna stop us now. I'm so glad I found you. I'm not gonna lose you. Whatever it takes, I will stay with you. Take you through the good times, take you through the bad times. Whatever it takes is what I gotta do. The night was a huge success. Everyone's parents were there except for mine. Mom and Dad had traveled out of state for 2 weeks on a business trip, and that meant only one thing— party in my house! Are you nuts? You can't You can't invite everyone. What if something happens? What? Come on, Alf, nothing will happen. Trust me, guys, this is our chance to finally become cool. Yeah, if this party's a success, we'll never be left out again, right, Alf? Come on, Alf, don't panic. It'll be totally awesome. I got my whole place set up. I got some, uh, some drinks and some snacks. It'll be perfect. See you at your place, Palmer. Oh yeah, I'll see you there, girls. Guys, Steve! My friends, tonight we're gonna party like it's 1999! Hey Palmer, how far is your house from here? About 15 miles straight up the Atlanta Highway. We'll see you then. Dude, how's everyone gonna know which one's your house? Come on, I thought of everything. I painted a huge sign, put it on the side of the road. You didn't just think I could call it my house, right? Right. So guys, I decided to call my path something cooler. Like what? Ready for this? Love Shack, baby. Love Shack, baby. Love Shack, baby. Love Shack. Love Shack, baby. Love Shack. Love Shack City. Love Shack City. Love Shack City. And everybody's moving around and around and around and around. Everybody's moving it, everybody's moving it. Take it outside and up, outside, just forget it. Everybody's moving it, everybody's moving it. What is that? What is that? The Love Shack is a little old place where we can get together. Love Shack, baby. Love Shack, baby. Bang, bang, bang on the door, baby. Say nay! Say nay! Say nay! You'll never be the same again! Say nay! Say nay! Say nay! Christina, I need you! You're once dead, now rusted! Love Shack, baby, Love Shack! Love Shack, baby, Love Shack! Love Shack, baby, Love Shack. Love Shack, baby, Love Shack. Love Shack. Cory, your parents are home already! Oh my God! Hugging and a kissing at the Love Shack. After that party, my parents grounded me for 3 months. All alone, I started the cleanup, and just when I thought things could not get any worse— Oh! Hey, Palmer! Great party! Cory, I'm sorry, I— Miss Flanagan? Hi, Cory! Hey, Corey, I think I left my sweater here. Oh, well, it must be here somewhere. Boy, what a mess. Tough night, hey? Uh, yeah. I don't see it anywhere. I'm sorry. Oh, it's okay. Miss Framing, if you don't mind me asking, are you okay? Yes, I'm fine, Corey. I'll see you on Monday. Bye. But now there's only love in the dark. There's nothing I can say. A total eclipse of the heart. A total eclipse of the heart. A total eclipse of the heart. But as they say, time marches on, and our senior year crap when he disappeared. I guess we all grew up in our own ways. Did Lionel put that letter in his locker yet? Nope, I'll put it in there after English. I'll do it right now. You know what, folks? I think it's time to reveal the identity of our secret admirer. Michael Feldman. then heaven is a place on earth. Forever yours, Michael Felt Smith. Michael, are you serious? P.S. physical P.P.S. let's stick physical P. P S. Let me hear your body. Let me give your body phone. My John Michael Johnson is totally in love with you. What on earth are you doing? Mr. Miyagi wants me to practice for half an hour every day. He says to be a fully developed grasshopper, one must use the head and the heart to guide the hands. Pinkies. Pinkies. Pinkies. And so the year continued. As our school prom approached, I those dreams finally came true. Hey guys, here's another letter. Here, give it to me. Okay, great. Dear Ivy, that's me. Tonight I celebrate my love for you. The past few months have been rough, but when the going gets tough, the tough get going. He's so cruel. This is not easy for me, but the time has come to reveal I hope you will sign your name across my heart. I want you to be my baby. You're so sensitive. I'm never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry. Never gonna say goodbye. Never gonna tell a lie to hurt you. Oops! If you will be mine, Then heaven is a place on Earth. From yours, Michael Feldman. Michael, are you serious? P.S. Physical. P.P.S. Let's get physical. P.P.P.S. Let me hear your body come apart. Let me hear your body come apart. Oh my God, Michael Feldman is totally in love with you! I said, baby, I trust what you got left for me to live. Oh yeah, now I'm walking on sunshine. Whoa, I'm walking on sunshine. Whoa, I'm walking on sunshine. Whoa, it don't feel good. Hey, oh my God, it don't feel good. Hey, all right now, hey, don't it feel good? I'm walking on sunshine, oh, I'm walking on sunshine, whoa, I'm walking on sunshine. I can't believe it! Only 3 months until he can drive. I know, it's so exciting. It's gonna give us so much freedom. Why would you need to drive? That's what the guys are for. Michael, not and Billy gets his next week. And guess what? I heard Michael's parents bought him a car! How cool is that? Well, yeah, but they said it's old and they should call it Flattery. Flattery? Why is that? Because they said it's not gonna get him anywhere. Hey, you finally got it! Yeah! Um, hey, I was I was wondering if I could speak to you for a moment as well. Sure, what about? Well, I got this new bike and it can sing too, so I was wondering if you maybe would— Hey, hey, you there! Get into my car! Yes, you! Get into my car! Who's that woman walking through my door? Watch the score. I'll be the sun shining on you. Hey, Cinderella, step into your shoe. I'll be a blouse of colors in your white skin. You know it's not miracle. I'm a man. Get out of my dreams. Get into my car. Get into my car. Get out of my dreams. Get into my heart. Oh yeah, get out of my mind. Get out of my mind. Get into my life. Oh, I said hey, hey, you, you, get into my heart. Beautiful. I am the man. Get out of my— get out of my— get out of my dreams. Get into my car. Get into my car. Get off of my dreams. Get in the taxi, baby. Get into my car. Oh yeah. Get out of my heart. Get out of my mind. Get into my life. Whoa. Hello, don't remember me? Talk to the hand, 'cause the face don't want to hear it. What the— Talk to the hand? Stevie, just give me 2 minutes of your time, please. I don't have time. I have a class to teach. I miss you. Why won't you just give us a second chance? Because things can never be the same again. Why not? Because every time I close my eyes, All I see is that stupid picture. It's driving me nuts. It's a swimsuit catalog, not a penthouse. Please, give us another try. We can get through this. No, Sheena, we can't. Even while I'm teaching, all I see is that magazine. Can we at least talk about this? Goodbye, Sheena. This is crazy. Everyone has their faults. I'm not an angel. I'm telling you, Copper is losing it. Yesterday I I saw him crying in the staff room at lunchtime. Yeah, something's going on. Okay, class, quiet down. I don't want to hear your nonsense today, okay? Let's go, calculus. I love calculus! Shut up, or I will kill you! Does he walk? Does he talk? Does he come from Greece? My home home angel, he's holding my seat. She was pure like snowflakes no one could ever stain. The memory of my angel could never cause me pain. Then one day I'm looking through a funny magazine, and there's old friends who are on pages in between. My memory has just been sold. My angel is a centerfold. Angel is a centerfold. The re has just been sold. It's okay, I understand. This ain't no Never-Neverland. I hope that when the patient's gone, I'll see you trying to close your arms. Take your car, that's your will. We'll take your car, drive it. We'll take it to the funeral. We both tell a woman we'll take off, we'll drive it. My head. Dear Irene, I really like you more than I've ever liked anyone else. Irene, I really like you more than I've ever liked anybody else. I want to be with you forever. I want to be with you forever. I guess what I'm trying to say is I love you. I guess what I'm trying to say is I love you. Oh, Michael. Oh, Michael. Oh, I've got to go to practice, so I'll see you later. And I feel my spirit rise and soar like the wind. Is it love that I am living? Is it this one small room, Grace? And now what do I do? 'Cause what I'm lost, I can't let go. Any more. You can take me to the stars. It's like being lost in heaven when I must close my eyes. I am tired of running from my Something's there we deny, and when our first meeting was when I first looked at you. Hold your arms in love, my way, if salvation lies in And so the end of our senior year drew near. Things got more tense as our Our prom night got closer and closer. Who were we going to ask? How were we going to ask them? And most importantly of all, what were we going to wear? Billy had set his eyes on Cindy and had taken inspiration from his idol, Rick Astley. Sure, Billy was cool when he was around Michael and his gang, but when you took him out of his group, he was just like the rest of us. A 17-year-old guy doing the best he could to look cool and to get a date for the prom. All right, girls, do you remember the routine? Yeah. So when do we get paid? I'll pay you at the end. Now, how do I look? Great. Yeah, but do I look as cool as Rick Astley? Definitely. Great. She is not going to be able to resist this if I don't have a date to the prom After this effort, I will eat this suit. What? Okay, let's do it. Cindy, what? Can I talk to you for a minute? Yeah. Guess. Hey Billy, you got any gum? Yeah, sure, here you go. No, I meant for you. Oh, okay. All right girls, ready? Hit it! Never gonna give you up. Never gonna give you up. Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry. Never gonna say goodbye. Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you. Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around I will go out with you. You're the lifeblood of this planet! So is that a yes? You must be kidding me. You remind me of the ocean. Why? Is it because I'm strong and unpredictable? No, it's because you make me sick. Whenever you need somebody— Get out of here! Bye! No! So, will you go to prom with me? No, Billy! Read my lips. N-O. No! Well, when you change your mind, you'll know where to find me. Ew! So, so what's the story? What story? Come on, Cindy, the story with Billy. Yeah, what's the gossip? There is no gossip. I told him I wasn't interested. Billy asked you to go to prom and you turned him down? I can't believe you just did that. What is wrong with you? Billy is great. He's funny and cute. Yeah, well, so are a lot of other guys. Girls, boys are like used cars. Why is that? Well, they're easy to get, unreliable, and cheap. Besides, I mean, you know what Billy does to pass through school? Oh, um, he works at the roller skating rink. But what's that got to do with anything? Well, that means he makes $3 an hour and that's it. Yeah, so what's he gonna buy me on $3 an hour? Nothing. If I go out with someone, I expect to be treated properly. Are you serious? I've been telling you You didn't go out with Billy because he's too poor? Yeah, well, it's like my mother has always said, marry for money, love will come later. That is so wrong! Girls, Billy is really, really poor! I mean, he's so poor he can't even afford rent and pension! Girls, there are plenty of guys in this world. It's a matter of finding the one that satisfies my needs. Okay, if they don't give me proper credit, I just walk away. They can beg and they can plead, but they can't change my mind. 'Cause the boy with the gold bar patch is always Mr. Right. 'Cause we are living in the material world and not in the material girl. You know that we are living in the Freedom that made me rich and now they're after me. Because everyone should live in a material world and I am a material girl. You know that we all should live in a material world and I am a material girl. A material, a material, a material, a material Real world. I'm telling you, I mean, Michael could ask you to the prom! Please, that would be so cool! He's totally hot. I don't know, I mean, I know he loves me and everything, but come out with me in public to the prom? That's kind of a big step for him. Well, what if his last line says, uh, that his love for me grows more and more every day and that he has something big to ask me, he's just waiting for the right moment? The right moment. Well, I'll go to the prom naked if he doesn't ask you to go. We can both get something big. Is that the right letter? Switch it out. Put it in quick, please. See, I hope so. Let's go and see if there's another letter. I can't wait any longer. This will be so funny. Just like you to go to the prom with no date. Hurry up with the damn letter! Hi Michael, what are you guys doing? Nothing, we were just leaving. Yeah, wait a minute, I want you guys to know the truth about Eileen and Michael. Yeah, you guys don't know that Michael's been in love with Eileen for ages, and she must just ask him to prom. Oh my God, after all this time, I would love to go to the prom. What? No, never mind. Hey, Felman, are you really going to the prom with her? No. What do you mean? The letter said— Yeah, but the thing is, the truth is Michael wouldn't go with you to the prom even if you paid him a million bucks. Don't let the cowboys mess it around. Yeah, we are throw their feathers together. So you never liked me all this time? None of it was true? Oh, I mean, not really, no. You're no joke, Michael. Yeah, the only difference between you and a bucket of crap is the bucket. Talk about a total freakout! Shut up, Michael! How could you be so cruel? What are you guys even doing? Calm down, we're just having some fun. Fun? How do you think Coraline feels? Okay, well, chill out. What do you want me to do about it? You know what, Michael? Nothing. I don't want you to come near me ever again. You are not the guy I thought you were, and I can't believe I wasted all my time with You can't break up with me. The prom is tomorrow night. Who am I gonna go with? I really don't care, Michael. It's over. No, that isn't what I want to know. You'll be begging to take me back. Michael, come on. I can't believe you guys did that. Shut up, you nerd. No, I have something to say. What What you did to Eileen is unforgivable. I demand that you go apologize to her immediately. Yeah, and what are you going to do if I don't? I think it's only fair to warn you, I am highly trained in a number of martial arts. These are not hands, they are lethal defense weapons. Well, what defense is this? Mr. Miyagi, I need help. Ah, Ferguson, remember that I have only It's not true. If you are really angry at someone, take a breath, count to 10, then beat the living crap out of them. Um, hi. Just leave me alone before he cleans. Sure, if that's what you want. But if you want someone to talk to, I can listen. So what's wrong? My whole world is falling apart. I've tried so I've been trying so hard to fit in. It's been 6 months. I thought I was finally there, and now I find out everyone's been laughing at me all this time. No, they haven't. Yes, they have! Did you know Michael's been sending me fake love letters since the first day I got here? No, I didn't. But Michael's kind of a jerk. Not all of us are like him. I guess so. Lauren! You're the monster! Don't worry, Eileen. Things will get better. I promise. How could you possibly know that? Um, well, it can't get any worse, can it? Come on, Eileen. Give me a smile. Eileen? Hey guys, Eileen needs some cheering up. She thinks none of us even like her. Of course we like you. You're great. Yeah. Thanks, guys. Hey, if it makes you feel any better, someone stood up for you and had a fight with Michael and won! You'll never believe who it was. Someone had a fight with Michael over me? Who? Fergal McFerrin! Fergal? Yeah, he was a real hero. Michael tried to knock him out, but Fergal returned the favor with a kick to the head! It was so awesome! You're kidding! No, it was brilliant. I can't believe you ever said that to me. That's so sweet. Look at that smile. Come on, Eileen, smile, please. Hey, guys, get the thing. Get it, you know what I mean? Go. Be happy. Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy now. Come on, I need to move right. Come on, I need to move right. Come on, I need to move right. Come on, don't worry, be happy now. Come on, I need to move Hey Cory, that was really nice of you guys. You're so sweet. Oh, um, really? Uh, thanks. No, I'm serious. Not many guys at this school would have done that. Thanks. Ah! I gotta get home! I think I am all gone. Yeah, I'm gonna go walk the dog. Check you later! Hey, I heard about your fight with Michael. Yeah, it's over between us. I'm sorry, I really am. I just— I hate seeing stuff. No, you know what? It's okay. He's such a jerk. I can't believe it took me this long to see it. Yeah, and you know what else? You were right, his ears are too big. Yeah, but the worst thing is now I don't have anyone to go to prom with. If you weren't taken, I'd go with you. I'm not taken. You're not? But I heard several girls asked you out today. Well, they did. Studs? Yeah, but I said no. Really? Well, I didn't want to go with anyone if I couldn't go with you. Tiffany, will you be my date to the prom? Sure, Cory. And Buffy. Hello, Sheila. Hi. How have you been? Okay, I guess. How about you? Fine. Been kind of a tough year Yeah, you can say that again. It's been kind of a tough year, you know. Who first? I was wondering if you ever want to get— Listen, I'm really sorry for everything. Thank you. I was wondering if you'd want to maybe get back together. I don't know. Oh yeah, no, that's fine. Yeah, think. I wouldn't want to rush you in anything you need to say as well. Sure. That'd be great. Cool. Are we going to the prom tomorrow? Yeah, I thought I'd stop by for a second. Okay, see you there, I guess. Yep, see you there. Okay. No. May 23rd, my prom night. It was finally the end of our school lives. We've been waiting for this night our entire lives, and we were going to make sure it was a night we would never forget. Hey, can I have this dance? Sure, if you can find someone to dance with. So we take each other's hands 'cause we seek to understand your jealousy. Just remember, you're the one thing I can't get enough of. So I'll tell you something, this could be love because I had the time of my life. No one ever felt this way before. Yes, I swear it's the truth, and I owe it all to you. One more is better. So you just let go, don't be afraid to lose control. Yes, I know it's on your mind when you say stay with me tonight. Stay with me. I'm in love, you're the one thing I can never And so, what has happened to everyone since we left high school? Laura and Devin are now millionaires. Several years after we graduated, they started a dating agency which has now become the most popular in the United States. Two years after we graduated, Fergal and Nyleen got married. Most of Fergal's crazy theories came true and he's now now a millionaire having pioneered what we all know as the World Wide Web. Cindy and Billy were never going to last. She is now a politician. Billy went on to own a chain of skating rinks. When skating went out of fashion, they bulldozed them all and replaced them with parking lots. Mel and Kim went on to marry two identical twins from England, Matt and Luke Brown. They both had two sets of triplets and are now in the Guinness Book of Records. Michael Feldman tried for the pro football league but was forced into early retirement after a nasty groin injury. He has had two wives and four kids and he is now a Baptist minister in New Orleans. Mr. Copper and Ms. Branigan finally let Bob Bagley bygones be bygones and made it down the aisle. Both of them still teach at Elliott Ocean High. In fact, Cocker is now the principal. The guys and I, well, we still see each other. We try and play golf once in a while. A few months ago, Kirk married a girl he met at Disneyland. Alf, on the other hand, seems destined to be a bachelor to the grave. Ah, as for Tiffany and me, well, we didn't get married as I'd always hoped. In fact, I haven't seen her for about 2 years now. I went to her wedding in Chicago a few years ago. She has 2 beautiful girls, both the spitting image of her. And as for me, well, I'm happy and healthy, but I'm still not married. I'm dating a fashion designer in New York. A little bit, so we'll see how that goes. It's funny, life moves pretty fast and takes us all along with it. Sure, things didn't pan out the way I thought they would at 17. I didn't marry Tiffany, and I don't live in a bachelor pad in Alphaburg having wild parties every night. But you know what? That's okay. I still love looking back on my high school days, and while they are all distant memories now, Thankfully, those memories of Howard will be in here forever. Have fun, guys. And I've never felt this way before, 'cause I swear it's the truth. And I owe it all to you, 'cause I had the time of my life. And I surfed through every open door, 'cause I found the answer. Call me, or recognize my face. Say it over every road till that kind of place. Leaving an old bar, singing your life till the pain in my legs. Eating up the night, my coffee place. Mama, listen to the radio, start to remember. You know this city, you know this city. Rock and roll, build this city. Build this city on rock and roll, build this city. Build this city on rock and roll, build this city. Build this city on rock and roll, build this city.
