Delegation means staying involved. The 10-80-10 process: you give 10% direction, your team executes 80%, you check in for the final 10%. Abdication, handing off without oversight, kills client relationships and your reputation.

there's a difference between delegation and abdication. Abdication is, hey, I hired this person, I hope they know what they're doing, I'm off to the next thing. And sometimes if we abdicate and we don't have the right person in place because we don't have the experience, we don't have the, the knowledge that that's even a thing, those people start to drop balls, clients start to cancel, our reputation starts to erode. So it's really important that we delegate effectively, keep a pulse on what's going on using the 10-80-10 process. We're going to give them 10% direction, let them take it and run with it 80% of the way, but we need to follow back on that last 10% and make sure that it's right and make sure that it's up to standard person or coach that team up or push them out and get the right person in the right seat. Big mistakes I see in the scale phase is putting the wrong team members in place, abdicating, putting too much trust in that new team that hasn't really been developed yet or proven themselves yet, not focusing on client retention, and/or focusing too much on client retention.
