In this instructional video, Joshua Nelson shares four practical tips to help anyone appear confident, natural, and compelling on camera. He begins by emphasizing the power of video and the common fear of looking or sounding wrong. The first tip is to imagine speaking to a single, specific person, which makes the delivery more authentic and resonant. The second tip is to raise your energy level before recording, as heightened energy translates into vocal inflection and presence. The third tip introduces his "Video Flow Framework," a simple three‑part structure (intro, transition, close) that provides a clear roadmap for any video; he offers a downloadable PDF for viewers who comment "video flow." The final tip stresses the importance of ending with a clear call to action—whether asking viewers to comment, tag someone, or follow a link—to ensure the video drives engagement and impact. Throughout, Nelson maintains an enthusiastic, conversational tone, encouraging viewers to apply these steps, use the framework, and position themselves as go‑to experts in their niche.

What's up guys? I hope you're doing awesome. I'm shooting some videos here at my home office with my videographer and I want to shoot this quick video on the concept of, you know, how to show up great on video, right? A lot of times I get— everyone knows video is very compelling, right? If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million, right? So the question though is, if you know that video is powerful, oftentimes you're not, you're not really confident enough to step up and shoot the video. You're scared you're not going to look right, you're not going to sound right, it's not going to be compelling. I just want to give you 4 tips to make sure that every time you show up on camera, you're your best self. So stick with me here, I'm going to unpack 4 simple tips that I follow every time I shoot a video that helps me be natural, that helps me be compelling, and then ideally helps my videos resonate at the highest level possible. So the first thing you want to do when you shoot videos every time, whether it's a FaceCam video, whether it's you on your webcam, or somebody shooting you from afar like on a professional camera, the first thing you want to do is make sure you're speaking to one particular person, right? The whole point of the video isn't to look good, it isn't really even to sound good, it's to resonate. And so if you want to resonate, you need to speak to one particular person. So get in your mind before you shoot your video, who you're talking to, right? Am I talking to Allen Hillsburg right now? It's gonna improve your video skills. And so when you do that, your words come out more natural, you'll feel more comfortable, you'll feel more confident. The second thing you wanna do is you wanna make sure you get into a mental state, right? You can't just show up on video and, "Oh, hey, this is Josh, and I like to help digital marketing agencies generate better results," right? You wanna make sure that your energy is up, Right, it's your energy that's infectious. And so make sure before you press record, you amp your energy just a little bit because they'll notice it in the inflection in your voice. They'll notice it in kind of how you come across on video. So that's tip number 2. The 3rd tip is use a framework, right? Anything is hard in the absence of a framework. And a framework just makes it easy to think, okay, these are the things that I'm gonna cover on this particular video. And so a framework that I found really, really effective is what I call the Video Flow Framework. And it's just how you introduce the video, kind of how you transition, and then how you close that particular video. And if you'd like to get a copy of that framework, and I'll kind of explain it to you to make your video creation significantly easier, type video framework in comments. I'll get you a copy of the, the the PDF. It's a simple one-page document that you can just kind of look at every time you shoot a video. And the fourth tip, the fourth thing you want to do to make your videos as effective as possible is to make sure you've got a call to action, right? Shooting video is powerful, right? You want to shoot videos, you want to come on Facebook, you want to come on Instagram, you want to share the good word, but the fact is if you don't have a call to action, it's not gonna have the impact that you want. And so your call to action could be post a comment, right? Your call to action could be tag somebody that could benefit from this. Your call to action could be, you know, comment below in order for me to send you something. Or you could send them off to a link where they could learn more. So make sure that you've got a call to action at the end of all of the videos that you shoot. So speak to one particular person, get that dialed into your mind before you shoot. Amp your energy, right? Really get your energy up before you shoot. Follow a framework and have a call to action. My call to action for this particular video is if you like the video framework that can help guide you through the process, guide you through the flow of any video that you want to shoot to simplify it significantly, just type in the comments video flow and I'll get you the video flow framework. Go out, shoot some great videos, be compelling, and position yourself as the go-to expert in your space. Thanks for joining me on this video. I'll talk to you soon.
