Hire people in your time zone or within 2-3 hours of it for faster communication and quicker delivery. The one exception: a distant time zone hire can work nights and hand off completed tasks by morning.
My preference is hiring people in a similar time zone unless you've got like a night shift situation where you dispatch whatever the tasks are to somebody that's in an international time zone and can work during the night and come back with some finished product for you. But I've just found in terms of being able to communicate with the team in order to keep on the same page, in order to hit deadlines, it's better to have either the same time zone or very similar, like within a 2 to 3 hour time window time zone so you guys can all be working on the same time frame.
