In this solo vlog, Travis Thomas introduces the weekly theme of “interrupting the routine,” using improvisation as a guiding metaphor. He explains that, like a scripted scene, life can become predictable and boring when we fall into habits, so we need to deliberately break the monotony. Thomas offers concrete, low‑effort ideas—taking a different route to work, buying a new coffee, getting up earlier for yoga or a walk, trying a new restaurant, or reading a book you’ve been postponing—to nudge yourself out of comfort zones where growth happens. He invites viewers to share how they’re changing their routines and to comment on their experiences. The video also references a SoulPancake “Science of Happiness” clip about gratitude and mentions two books he’s reading—Love Does by Bob Goff and David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell—highlighting their influence on his mindset. The vlog ends with a friendly sign‑off, encouraging the audience to experiment with small changes throughout the week.

7 Days of Yes! What is up, yes people? It is another week upon us. How is everything going? We're a couple weeks into 2014 now. Resolutions, commitments, thinking about different things that we want to do. How is everything feeling for you? What's getting in the way? What are you learning? What are you grateful for? A lot of questions. Don't need a lot of answers. Questions are good. So your theme for this week, I'm pretty excited about. It's actually, it's an idea That is, it's big in improvisation and hopefully you'll see the relevance sort of in life in general. But whenever you read a book, you watch a good TV show, you go to a movie, we go to them because we want to see interesting stories. We want to see things out of the normal, out of the unusual. And so if we just see a movie that's just kind of like normal and everything happens as planned, it's kind of a boring story, right? And your life is no different. As soon as we get into a pattern, we get into routines, we get into habits, It's easy to miss a lot of what's going on because we just kind of fall into these normal, predictable routines. We make assumptions and we just— we're not exploring. We're not in a discovery mode set— mode set? Discovery mindset. We're not challenging to see what else is going on around us or what else could be possible with this situation. In improvisation, we call it whenever you're doing a scene and And everything is kind of established and you think you know what's going on, to take that scene into an interesting direction, you need to interrupt the routine. Break the monotony. Make a choice that just moves the scene in a different direction. You need to interrupt the routine. And we need to do that in our lives. We need to interrupt the routine. Take a different way to work. Go down a street that you don't normally go into. Stop into a store to buy your morning coffee or— Lunch. Or orange juice that you don't typically stop in. Not that something amazing is going to happen, but maybe it will. Find a way to just change your routine. Get up a few minutes earlier than you normally do. Do something different in the morning. Start off with a reading. Start off with yoga. Start off with going for a walk in nature. Interrupt your routine. When you get home at night, don't plunk down and just watch the same show or even watch a show in general. All right, go to a restaurant you've never gone to. Go to a part of town you've never gone to. Read a book that you've been meaning to pick up. Interrupt your routine. Push yourself or nudge yourself outside of your comfort zone because that's where the growth always happens, right? And that's when life gets interesting. And sometimes we don't get to choose and other times we get pushed, but that is when life gets interesting. This week is all about interrupting the routine and then let me hear how you're interrupting your routine and what's happening. Please share your feedback. I want to know how it's going. Also, the video this week in the blog is The Science of Happiness by SoulPancake. It's all about gratitude. You'll love it. Check it out. Books I'm reading right now, Love Does by Bob Goff, which was a gift from my sister. Loving that. As well as David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell. Love— if I could marry an author, it would probably be Malcolm Gladwell. Things just got a little awkward, didn't they? Sorry about that, Malcolm. That is 7 Days of Yes. Have a great week, everyone. I don't have any cool sign-off. That's it.
