7 Days of YES: The answer to HOW is YES!

Travis Thomas shares Peter Block's philosophy that "the answer to how is yes." Instead of asking how to achieve your goals, say yes first and trust the details will follow. His assignment: spend a few minutes daily visualizing impossible goals as real possibilities.

7 Days of Yes for March 10th. How are you doing? Can you believe March 10th already? I can't believe how quickly 2014 is going by. We're not quite a third of the way through it, but how are you doing, right? Think about your commitments, your goals, how you want to show up, how authentic you are showing up. Again, we've got Yes 101 programs starting every month if you need a kind of a little boost or a kickstart. back into your authenticity, go ahead and sign up for one of those programs. We'd love to have you. But how did last week go? Really paying attention to what is it that makes you itch, right? That itch inside of you, that passion, that desire, that authenticity. What does that itch feel like? So how did it go when you paid attention to it? What showed up and what were you able to do about it? So it'd be interesting to hear any feedback Yeah. About that. Yesterday, my wife and I got to take the kids to Disney Hollywood Studios for the day, just a day trip, but just kind of a fun day. It was a beautiful day. Obviously, it's spring break. It's starting to get a little busier down here. But whenever I'm in the parks, I just kind of walk around and sort of like a kid at times, you know, you look around when you're in those parks and it's impressive. It's impressive to see It's just what it takes, the dream, the vision, everything that creates, especially Disney. There's so much kind of that magic and that wonderment in it. And just to think about the ideas and the dreams that it took to make all of that possible. And so the theme sort of for this week and getting to work with my adults and students that I work with on a daily basis, talking to them about their bliss, talking to them about what are the things that they really want to do, what are they passionate about, who do they want to be? A lot of times we just don't know and we don't spend enough time really thinking about what we really want. We spend a lot of time thinking about what we don't want or just trying to survive, to get by. But not often do we kind of put that vision out there of, wow, this is what I would really like to do. So we let being realistic, being rational, we let those 2 words, realistic and rational, crush a lot of our aspirations because we think, ah, it would be too difficult. One of my favorite quotes from Peter Block is, the answer to how is yes. So every how question we have— how would I do that? How would I afford it? How, how, how? The answer is yes. Say yes and keep walking forward. Does that mean you're going to get it? Not necessarily. But the saying yes allows yourself and God and love and the universe to work out the details with you instead of having to feel like you've got to have the answer. For every how. The answer to how is yes. So this week, I want you to spend time each week just dreaming the impossible. What are a few things that you would really like to do? I'd really love to live here. I'd love to do this kind of work, or I'd love to, you know, what are those big dreams that you might think are impossible? I want you to just think about them, see them, visualize them, just put them out there as a possibility. Even if they feel totally impossible, put them out there as an impossibility. Spend time doing that each day. Every day, spend a few minutes thinking about it, either the same idea every day or just being open to whatever those ideas are that feel impossible to you. So that's your assignment for the week. I would love to hear how it goes. I'm excited this week because I fly out Thursday night and on Friday, I'm speaking at John O'Leary's Launch Conference in St. Louis. Go ahead and follow the link at the bottom of the blog today. You can get ticket information and it should be an amazing event, an amazing group of speakers. I'm honored to get to do kind of an interactive session on Friday right after lunch. So it should be a lot of fun. And so if you're in the area, come on out and it should be a lot of fun. So that's your assignment for the week everyone. 7 Days of Yes. Have a wonderful, wonderful week.
