A coach working with SLU and Richmond soccer teams explains how to shape the culture you want by working backward from your goals. He uses a story about a spiritual teacher who attracted bluebirds by studying what they needed, then building a backyard for them. Apply the same logic to your home, work, and relationships.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for Wednesday, August 17th. So, a lot of the work that I'm doing right now with SLU men's soccer team, Richmond women's soccer in general, is this idea about being intentional about the environments, the cultures that we're trying to create. And by being intentional, right, it makes it easier for us to hit the mark. When we actually know what we want, we we can then kind of take the backward steps to go, okay, in order to have this, what would it take? So, I was listening to an interview this morning with kind of a spiritual speaker, a spiritual teacher, and she was using the example of years ago, she was trying to attract bluebirds to her backyard. So, she went to an ornithologist, I believe that is a bird expert, an ornithologist, and asked, hey, what do I need to do to have bluebirds kind of like come to my backyard? And he goes, you need to create the environment that is conducive to bluebirds. And he gave her some specific things. You know, you need this, you need this, you need this. And voilà, bluebirds ended up kind of settling in her backyard, right? Super simple. But, but the message is clear. If you're really clear on what you want, then it comes down to, am I creating the environment that is conducive for, for that kind of habitation? And that goes to your house. your work, your personal life, your professional life. So just thinking about your house for a second, what is, what is it that you actually want, uh, the, you know, your, your family life to be? What do you want that vibe to be? What do you want that culture to be inside your own house? And so what do you need to do to create the space that makes that possible, right? Really simple but not easy. But by being intentional It makes it a whole lot easier to know what we're shooting for compared to just trying to figure it out as we go. So there you have it. That's your moment of yes for today. Have an awesome Wednesday, everybody.
