In this short motivational monologue, the speaker greets viewers on Monday, August 18, and reflects on the seasonal shift as his family members (Trinity, Holland, Shepherd) begin new school or work phases. He uses this transition period as a springboard to discuss the need for personal “anchors” that keep us grounded when life feels unsettled. He defines anchors as mental or spiritual touch‑stones—simple habits such as morning prayer, quiet reflection, exercise, connection with others, and reading—that provide calm, compassion, and resolve. By consciously identifying and sticking to these anchors, we can maintain stability despite the pull of change. The talk ends with a call‑to‑action: listeners should name a few simple anchors for themselves and rely on them throughout the week.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your Motive Yes for Monday, August 18th. That's right, here we go. Um, it's still hotter than blazes here in, uh, in St. Louis. We've got Trinity starting new work, we've got Holland going back to college today, Shepherd starting school this week. You can just kind of feel sort of the transition and shifting of not just our family but Just kind of things going on, you know, with school season and summer kind of coming to an end. You can just kind of feel sort of that transition space. And sometimes when we're in a transition space, there's an adjustment, the shifting, having to kind of get your bearings and get grounded again. So it had me thinking about, well then, what is it? What is it that grounds us? You know, what is it that as things are shifting more than normal and we're needing to adjust, what is it that you grab onto? And so when we think about sort of anchors, we think about mental anchors connected to spiritual anchors connected to— or a mental anchor connected to a spiritual foundation or whatever it may be. That's what allows— when we have those to grab onto, that's what allows us to kind of keep our calm, keep our compassion, our resolve, even through the transition. And so as I— even when I notice myself feeling like a little flustered or discouraged, I'm like, ah, okay, there's just a lot of moving parts going on right now. What can I, what can I grab onto? What can I hold onto so I can, I can stick with my habits and my routines? The, the, the, the things that I do in the morning, whether it's prayer, reflection, quiet. Um, and then the things that I know take care of me, my exercise, my connection, reading. And so when we grab onto those anchors and we stick to those anchors, you know, it's not that we don't get moved and twisted and pulled during times of transition, but It gives us a sense of that, that peace and stability. So for you, as we start off a new week, your moment of yes for today is, what are your anchors? You know, make them simple and then stick to them. Grab onto them. They will sustain you. That's your moment of yes for today. Have an awesome week, everyone.
