In this short motivational monologue titled “Moment of Yes” recorded on Friday, December 11, 2020, the speaker reflects on a recent 6‑0 victory over El Salvador and uses the occasion to reinforce a coaching philosophy centered on preparation and consistent habits. He recounts a pre‑game coaches’ meeting where a Navy SEAL mantra—“we don’t rise to the level of the mission; we fall to the level of our preparation”—was adapted to “we don’t rise to the level of the mission, we perform at the level of our training.” The speaker stresses that athletes should rely on the work they have already done in training rather than seeking extra effort on game day. He expands the concept of “training” to include diet, fitness, health, routines, and habits, arguing that daily consistency shapes performance and well‑being. The talk concludes with a “Moment of Yes” prompt, urging listeners to examine their own training habits and consider small, sustainable tweaks rather than drastic changes, ending on an upbeat, encouraging note.

Good morning, everyone. Here's your Moment of Yes for Friday, December 11th. Hopefully, you've got some good weekend plans ahead of you. I'm back, back with the family. 2 days ago was our game day against El Salvador. We won 6 to nothing. Woo! But so today's Moment of Yes is kind of inspired by sort of the coach's prep and the message that we are preparing the players for, for the game. And we have a kind of a pregame meeting during the day where we kind of go over the week, we go over the assignments. We show a video, but it's kind of— we want the message and the tone to be consistent with what we've been talking about all week and training and not trying to, you know, think that they have to do more than what they've already been doing. So as we were kind of having that meeting with the coaches to kind of discuss that, the quote came to me that is sort of a Navy SEALs mantra, which is essentially, we don't rise to the level of the mission. We fall to the level of our preparation. And so, in thinking— and so when we shared that with the guys, we just tweaked it a little bit. The message was, we don't rise to the level of the mission, we perform at the level of our training. And so again, we don't want these guys to think that they need to go out there and do anything more than what they've already been doing in training that week. So to have confidence, rely on your ability, just go out there Do the best you can and do what you've been doing in training. And if we do that, right, we're going to be okay. Win or lose, we're going to be okay. And so I love that quote. I love that idea. So the question for me then becomes, and this is your moment of yes, is what does the level of your training look like? And when I say training is, you know, what does your diet look like? You know, from a fitness standpoint, from a health standpoint, from a routine standpoint, from a habit standpoint. The things that we consistently do is what we become. We become the consistent performance of what we do on a day-to-day basis, not what we do every once in a while. And so, that's why our habits are so important because it's our happiness and our health. And it's based on what we do consistently, not what we do every once in a while. So there's your moment of yes for today. Think about your routines and think about your habits. And instead of thinking you got to make crazy changes, let's see if we can make a few tweaks today. All right, guys, that's your moment of yes. Have an awesome weekend. Talk to you guys soon.
