In this short motivational video, the speaker opens with casual remarks about the weather and travel before delivering the "Moment of Yes" for Monday, January 13. He shares a coaching anecdote about a young man overwhelmed by stress and anxiety surrounding a big test and his sense of responsibility. By dissecting the word "responsibility" into its root "response" and the suffix "able," the speaker reframes responsibility as the ability to respond to whatever is happening in the moment, rather than a static list of duties. He emphasizes that true responsibility means being able to meet the needs of the present, linking it to personal accountability. The talk concludes with a call to action: be responsible this week by consciously responding to the demands of each moment, encouraging listeners to adopt this mindset for the days ahead.

Good morning everyone. Here's your Moment of Yes for Monday, January 13th. Back in St. Louis, it's cold. Yeah, it's cold. Just dropped Talia off at the airport. She's on her way to El Salvador, 90-degree weather. Not here, cold. Just got back from Arizona, not warm but not cold. All right, it is what it is. Let's respond. Here's your Moment of Yes. I was doing a coaching call last week. With this young gentleman who's having a lot of stress, a lot of anxiety. And the idea came up about, you know, him feeling like he needs to be responsible and some of the stress and anxiety about responsible and a big test is coming up. And I said, okay, yeah, that totally makes sense. I was like, all right, so like responsible. So I said, you know, what's the root word of response? Response. He's like, I don't know. I'm like, think about it. Like, this isn't a trick question. Like, what's the root word for response? Abl, right? Response, abl. And he goes, response? I was like, yeah. And what's the second word? He goes, abl? Able? And if we— yeah. What's it mean to be responsible? It means we have the ability to respond. To respond to what? Respond to whatever's happening. We tend to think responsibilities is like, oh, like, I have to be responsible. I have all these tasks. And duties. And, you know, yeah, that's true, but what's it really mean? It's mean, hey, I have all these things that need to be done and I need to be responsible. I need to be able to respond to everything that is being asked of me, everything that I'm being confronted with. That's what responsibility is. We tend to make it this thing like, oh, being a mature adult, and it is, But it's all of our ability to respond to the need of the moment, right? When I am responsible, I am able to respond to the need of the moment. And that's each of us here. When I hold myself accountable, I am able to account for what I am doing, right? So responsible. So if we break it down to its simplicity, Let's all be responsible this week. Let's be responsible today. And how do you need to be responsible this week? Meaning, how do you need to respond to what is happening? You have the ability to respond to what is being needed in this moment. Responsible. That's your moment of yes for today. Have an awesome few days, everybody.
