A Moment of YES: January 30th

A speaker shares travel stories from Florida, St. Louis, and Las Vegas, then argues that each moment lets you choose what you bring to it: calm, joy, laughter, or positivity. Be the thermostat, not the thermometer. Don't let delays or snow dictate your mood.

Good morning everyone, here is your Moment of Yes for, uh, Friday, January 30th. Um, it's been a minute because I, I missed this past Monday. Um, and I'm like, yeah, it's since the last one. I think I've, I've been to Florida twice. Um, and, uh, back to St. Louis for the snowstorm, out to Vegas for work, and now back to Florida again. Last week I got to go have coffee with Frank, and now I'm getting ready to go have coffee with Jesse. So good stuff. And so yeah, last opportunity to get a message in. The snowstorm kind of threw everything off last week, or this week, and then a lot of travel in between. All of that to say that your moment of yes for today is, is be the blank. Be the blank. And so what I'm reminded of all the, all the time is how we Moment to moment to moment, and a lot of times I fail. Moment to moment to moment, we have the opportunity to be the fill in the blank, right? We can be the calm, we can be the peace, we can be the joy, we can be the laugh, we can be the yes and, we can be the curmudgeon, we can be the negativity, we can be the— and so we always have an opportunity. Sorry, no tripod. Just a tripod. Yeah. We always have the opportunity, moment to moment, to decide, to choose, we are going to be the blank. And if we let the situation always dictate how we show up, we're going to consistently show up frustrated or negative. It's the thermometer or the thermostat. Instead of when we are the thermostat, we decide this is how we are going to show up regardless if my flight is delayed, Regardless of the foot of snow that gets dropped, regardless of how the people around me are acting, whether I have to sit on the 4-hour flight next to the small child. And I'm like, yeah, I get to be the kind, patient, tolerant one. I get to be the one who tries to make the baby laugh or smile instead of being the— annoyed, being the put-out. So as we move into the weekend, as we close the chapter on January 2026— it's the last— tomorrow's the last day— and we move into February 2026, you are going to be the— that's your moment of yes for today. Have an awesome weekend, everyone.
