In this personal monologue for the "Moment of Yes" series, the speaker shares a brief update on recent travel from St. Louis to northern Michigan, a recent bout of illness that was initially suspected to be COVID-19 but tested negative, and expresses gratitude that the journey has proceeded smoothly. Using the metaphor of shaking a rug to expose hidden dirt, the speaker reflects on family dynamics and the lingering judgment they hold toward certain people. They contemplate whether they can allow others to be without letting that judgment disturb their own peace, recognizing that trying to change others after decades of effort is futile. The speaker frames this internal struggle as both a challenge and an opportunity, emphasizing surrender and acceptance as a path toward personal tranquility. The segment concludes with a hopeful tone about enjoying the northern Michigan atmosphere over the coming weeks and a sign‑off for the next episode.

Hello, good evening everyone. This is your Moment of Yes for July 18th, Monday, July 18th. Hollister actually reminded me, we're up in northern Michigan now, driving down to southern Michigan this morning, and then on the drive down, we left early, she said, you haven't done today's— remember you said you're gonna do another Amoy today? I was like, I know, I need to get to one. But things have been off a little bit, off-kilter here a little bit. Obviously I took last week off, a little bit under the weather. I thought I had COVID. Took the test, negative. Feeling much better. A little congested, you can probably tell. But up in northern Michigan now. Different scenery here for the next couple of weeks before settling back in St. Louis. And so, here we are. A lot going on from driving Florida to St. Louis to being up in St. Louis, St. Louis up to Michigan. A lot of details, a lot of things going on. A, super grateful that everything has gone relatively smoothly outside of not feeling well. And B, I think the last moment of yes I shared was kind of the shaking of the rug. And when you shake the rug, it really brings a lot of dirt into the atmosphere that was there the whole time. But if you're not having to deal with it, you don't notice it. And when you shake it out, you have to deal with it. There's a little bit of that shaking out right now when it comes to, you know, maybe specifically You know, dealing with family members, right? And, and, and a lot of stuff gets shaken up, uh, stirred up, put right in your face, and it's like, oh wow, okay, like, oh, right, this, this thing. And so, um, my moment of yes for today is like, man, yes, I still carry a lot of judgment about specific people, people in general, but some people more than others. Can I just let them be? Can I let them be without it disrupting so much of my own peace? There's a nice life lesson for you. Can I let this person be without it disrupting so much of my peace? And it's difficult, um, and, uh, but that's the challenge, that's the opportunity, that's what I'm dealing with, um, and, uh, because the temptation is to trying to change that person to meet The way that I want them to be, which is never going to work. Even if you're working at it for 40-plus years, it's never going to work. So to surrender and allow them to be allows some of the stuff to settle a little bit more so that you can just hopefully be your best regardless of how they show up. Easier said than done, but that's the challenge. That's the opportunity. That's the space that I'm sitting in. And that's how I'm feeling today on this Monday with your Moment of Yes. So, yeah, this is going to be the vibe here for the next couple of weeks and enjoying some of the northern Michigan atmosphere up here. So, there you have it. That's your Moment of Yes. Have an awesome Monday. See you guys on Wednesday.
