In this short motivational video recorded in Portland, Maine, the speaker delivers a daily “moment of yes” for Monday, July 20th. He uses the 2022 World Cup’s Spanish team as a case study, noting that despite their dominant performances they were not a headline storyline. He cites the quote “excellence is boring” to illustrate that Spain’s success stemmed from relentless, unglamorous consistency—precise, tireless, no‑frills play. The speaker extends this insight to everyday life, urging listeners to identify two or three modest, non‑sexy habits that, when practiced consistently, can lead to personal excellence. The video ends with an encouraging call to focus on those habits and have a great week.

Good morning. Here's your moment of yes for Monday, July 20th. Welcome from Portland, Maine. Happy donut, y'all. Happy donut in Portland, Maine. All right, moment of yes for today. The World Cup is over. Sad. But your moment of yes is actually related to the World Cup. If you were to guess what were like the top 5, top 10 moments of the World Cup? And you just think about them. Does Spain show up in those moments at all? Right? Were there— is there anything that Spain did before sort of winning the whole thing? The semifinal dominance against France, the dominance against Argentina yesterday. yet throughout the whole tournament, they really weren't a big storyline. I mean, you knew they were good, but they really weren't a big storyline. One of my favorite, uh, uh, kind of quotes— kind of, it was a Trevor quote, Moed quote, I don't know if it was his or not— but the quote is, excellence is boring, right? Excellence is boring. And that's what Spain made me think of with this World Cup victory, sort of kind of excellence is boring. Now, I mean, Boring, boring, meaning what they do and what they did for their success was consistent. It was tireless. It was precise. It was beautiful. But it was kind of no frills. It didn't steal the spotlight. It didn't— again, it doesn't show up in, in core memories of the entire tournament. I mean, the game winner, winner for sure, but just that idea of You know, excellence is boring, which really means, you know, what we do on a day-to-day basis, our habits, our routines, our consistency, they're not really sexy, but it's the consistency of them, it's the commitment of them, it's the dedication of them, which leads to the opportunity to be excellent. And Spain was excellent. So your moment of yes for today, as you kind of head out into the week and attack the week, is what are those 2 or 3 behaviors that maybe aren't the sexiest behaviors in the world, but they lead to your personal and individual excellence? What are those? Let's focus in on those. Let's have a great week, everyone. That's your moment of yes. Excellence is boring.
