In this brief spoken monologue, the speaker delivers a “moment of yes” for July 25, using a personal anecdote from a lunch in Traverse City to illustrate how unmet expectations create a uncomfortable “goo” state. The speaker explains that when reality diverges from what we imagined, we often resist and feel stuck, but by quickly acknowledging the mismatch, asking what can be learned, and reframing the struggle as a gift, the “goo” can be transformed into growth. Listeners are invited to identify their own current “goo” and consider the hidden blessings within it. The overall message is a supportive reminder to accept discomfort, seek learning opportunities, and recognize the positive outcomes that can emerge from challenging moments.

Hello, here is your moment of yes for Monday, July 25th. How is everyone doing? A little bit later in the day, I understand, but I've been gone, uh, since the morning. It's the first time I've had a chance to just come out and sit, reflect, and share the yes. Hopefully we're back on our Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule this week. Your moment of yes for today is the goo never feels good when you're in it. Um, I had a lunch in Traverse City today with a couple, an older couple that Hollister knows through her Euphrates work, etc., etc. Um, great lunch with them. We talked about a bunch of things, and including they shared an experience with, I believe, a granddaughter or a niece who is going through a tough spot. Um, she thought the experience was going to be one thing and ends up being a lot harder than it was, and sure, she's struggling. And it was this whole idea of like, yes, when expectation or when reality doesn't meet expectation, that can be a tough pill to swallow. So instead of kind of yes-anding that, like, oh, I thought it was going to be this, but now it's this, she's still in that mindset of I'm resisting that it's supposed to be this. And so she's not enjoying actually what it is, right? So I'm like, oh wow, what an awesome gift she's been given, right? This is going to be a powerful gift when she chooses to receive it. Again, the goo that we know is when we're in the middle of the goo, we know it's tough, we don't like it, but good often comes as a result of that struggle. But when we're in the struggle, it seldom feels good. It can be a good reminder that good is coming if we allow ourselves to be transformed, if we allow ourselves to learn from it, because learning is inevitable. Once we acknowledge the gifts that happen as a result of it is when we can actually sort of appreciate it and feel good. And so again, it was just another reminder for me today about when our expectation doesn't match reality, the quicker we go, okay, I thought it was going to be this, now it's this. Yes, it is this and what am I learning from this? What are the opportunities? What is the gold that I can mine here? And when we do that, we quickly get to the gift A lot faster. So, um, yeah, what goo are you in right now that you're maybe not enjoying but recognizing, oh, okay, uh, this is not what I thought it was going to be? I've got a few of those right now. It's not what I thought it was going to be, and there's still some gifts and blessings in this. So there you have it. There's your moment of yes for today, everybody. Have an awesome day.
