In this short motivational video, the speaker delivers a morning reflection for U.S. Independence Day, urging listeners to shift focus from the traditional celebration of individual freedoms to a broader concept of interdependence. He contrasts "independence" (me‑centric) with "dependence" (you‑centric) and proposes "interdependence" (we‑centric) as the ideal state for both the nation and its relationships with other countries and the planet. He highlights his sister’s #RackTheFourth initiative, which encourages random acts of kindness on July 4th, framing it as a practical expression of interdependence. The speaker calls listeners to consider how their daily decisions affect others and to act positively, emphasizing reciprocity, collective responsibility, and a hopeful, inclusive vision for the holiday.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for Monday, July 4th. Happy 4th of July, everyone. Happy Independence Day here in the U.S. Hopefully you've got a barbecue, beach trip, fireworks, something planned for today. Be safe. Be safe. So Independence Day, U.S. Independence Day. We're not the only country to have and celebrate an Independence Day, but today is ours. When I think about celebrating this day, I mean. Freedom tends to be kind of the theme, and it's like, you know, our rights for this and our rights for that, and it's my rights, my rights, my rights. When I think about especially just sort of the U.S. at its best, it's when I think about the interdependence. When we're a country or we're a people that operates reciprocally with other countries or with other cultures. When it's— we're looking at the Sort of the Ubuntu of what I do impacts you, what you do impacts me, so let's figure this out together. Independence is all about me and me, me, me. Dependence is all about you, you, you, you, you. Interdependence is about we, it's about us. And I think again, we're at our best when that relationship is reciprocal. So the decisions that I make, how do they impact you? And the decisions you make, how do they impact me? Let's figure those out, let's make them together. So today, as I kind of go through my day, my sister started #RackTheFourth, which is spending today doing random acts of kindness, right? Instead of my rights, it's about, hey, let's celebrate each other together, right? Let's talk about how we're in this together. Yes, we have disagreements and different things, but how do we come together interdependently Where we're supporting one another, we're working with one another instead of working against one another. Our interdependence. I think our country needs much more interdependence because we need each other. We need each other inside this country and we need our relationships with every other country as well as the planet as well as etc., etc., etc. That's a yes and, right? Interdependence. Is a big yes, and. So help me celebrate our Interdependence Day today, July 4th, by seeing and thinking about what I can do to have a positive impact on those around me, knowing that it is reciprocal. Yeah. Look at that random hair just hanging out there. Yeah. That's your moment of yes for today, everybody. Have an awesome day.
