In this short motivational video, the speaker greets viewers with a personal update—celebrating his wife Hollister Thomas’s birthday, noting his two‑week stay in Lebanon, Missouri, and outlining his upcoming teaching, camp, and national team commitments. He then presents a riddle about a ship with six foot‑spaced rungs and a five‑foot rise in sea level, revealing that all six rungs remain visible because the ship rises with the water. Using this as a metaphor, he explains that when faced with difficulty, we must rise with the challenge rather than let it sink us; only water entering the boat causes loss of buoyancy. He extends the analogy with the story of Jesus walking on water, emphasizing that staying on top of turbulent circumstances allows clear, purposeful action and a genuine “yes.” The video concludes with an encouraging call for viewers to keep rising above storms, maintain clarity, and have an awesome day.

Good morning. Here is your Moment of Yes for Monday, June 14th. How do I know that it's June 14th? Because it's Hollister Thomas's birthday. My wife. That's right. Happy birthday, Hollister. I'm not sure if you watch these. She's a subscriber. Not sure if she watches. But, uh, if you guys get a chance, um, wish her a happy birthday. I won't say what her age is. She still looks young and beautiful. Um, and, uh, so happy birthday. So, uh, for the next 2 weeks we are in Lebanon, Missouri. Yes, we're in Lebanon, Missouri. A little bit different than Lebanon, Middle East, but we're here for the next 2 weeks. And, uh, so this will probably be what my moment of yes looks like unless I'm able to, uh, to get outside. There it is, a beautiful pond lake right outside my window. I don't know if you can see that. Yep. So that's the view. I'll be teaching a college course this week. And then just helping out at the camp the following week, and then a couple weeks joining up with the Gold Cup for the national team again. So here is your moment of yes for today. So here's a quiz. There is a ship that has 6 rungs on the side of the ship. Each of them are a foot apart, right? If the sea level rises 5 feet, how many rungs are now above the water. All right, so there's a ship. It has 6 rungs, each a foot apart off the side of the ship. If the water rises 5 feet, how many rungs can you still see? You got your answer? All right, what's your answer? The answer is 6. You can see all 6 rungs. Why? Because as the water rises, the ship sits on top of the water, so it rises with the water. It's a trick question. And so what I love about that analogy is when it comes to dealing with, uh, with difficulty, with struggle, with challenges, with adversity, if we don't rise with it, we tend to sink into it, right? Or it can, it can overcome us. The only time water is dangerous to a boat is when water gets inside the boat. That's how the boat loses its buoyancy. That's how it sinks. But no matter how rough the water gets, no matter how rough the sea gets, as long as the boat is able to stay on top of the turbulence, you're okay. A friend of mine was sharing a story and kind of using the analogy of Jesus walking on water. Now, whether you believe Jesus really walked on water, whether it's literal, whether it's figurative, regardless, what I love about it is beyond Kind of the Jesus walking on water is a miracle. What it also represents, again, is that idea of the ocean and the sea got turbulent. Jesus stayed on top of it, right? Thus walking on top of the water. It's a great metaphor. So that's your moment of yes for today, is regardless of what challenges you are going through, the adversity, the goal is not to close our eyes and pretend that it didn't happen, right? We're running at the storm. But while we run at the storm, we can stay on top of the storm. And as long as we keep rising above the storm, even as it rises, we'll always be able to keep a clear, purposeful thought and respond with our true yes, and. Cool? That's your moment of yes for today, everyone. Have an awesome, awesome day. Bye.
