In this motivational monologue, the speaker opens with a brief greeting and introduces a story about a rancher who needs help on his farm. A stranger applies for the job, offering only one reference: that he "sleeps through storms." After a period of training, a massive nighttime storm hits. While the rancher panics and rushes to secure everything, the stranger remains calm, having already prepared the barn, animals, and equipment. The rancher realizes the power of the stranger’s mantra. The speaker then expands the metaphor, asking listeners what storms—emotional, mental, or practical—they are currently facing and whether they can "sleep through" them. He emphasizes that true preparedness involves both mental and physical readiness, creating a calm “eye of the storm” amid chaos. The talk concludes with a call to action: consider how to achieve better rest and composure during life’s storms, and a personal shout‑out to Frank Licari.

Good morning, everyone. Here's your Moment of Yes for Monday, June 20th. It's good to be home, sweating, but good to be home. A lot going on, a lot to do, a lot of details, a lot of stuff, a lot of uncertainty. But it reminds me of a story of a rancher who, who needs another ranch hand, right? So much to do on the farm, the horses, tending to the farm, so much work. And he keeps placing ads for a rancher needed, and he's not getting any responses. And one day, a stranger in town shows up, and he's got the ad in hand, and he says, I want to apply for the job. And the guy says, can I see your references? You know, what can you give me? And the guy says, I don't have any references. He goes, the only thing I can tell you is that I sleep through storms. Okay. Rancher's like, what? He goes, I sleep through storms. He's like, well, thanks for your time, right? And the guy leaves and he just doesn't get any more applications over the next week or so. So feeling desperate, he reaches out to the guy and he's like, hey, are you still in town? If so, you know, come tomorrow and we'll give it a shot. So the stranger shows up. The rancher for the next few days shows him all the day-to-day tasks. The guy is doing the work. He's doing a good job. A couple weeks in, middle of the night, 2 o'clock in the morning, this enormous storm comes rolling over the mountains into the valley. And the rancher wakes up and he starts running around the house. He's pounding on the stranger's door. Wake up! Wake up! We got so much work to do! Wake up! Wake up! We got so much work to do! And there's no response from the rancher, from the stranger's room. And the rancher finally gets mad. He's going, I'll do it myself. He runs outside and he runs into the barn to do everything. And in the barn, everything is taken care of. Everything's put away. Everything is secured. Animals are fine. He runs out to the back of the house. Everything is secure. Everything's put away. Everything's fine. And then it hits him at that moment. Oh my God. He remembers the stranger's words. I sleep through storms. And so what storms are you experiencing right now? From the tragic ones to the mundane to every kind of storm in between. Do you sleep through storms? And again, it's not about the physical activity we're talking about. How do we— how do we handle the emotional, the mental? When, when, when, when the hurricane is raging around us, there is always peace in the middle, peace in the eye of the storm. There's stillness, there's calm, and it's, it's not— we're not minimizing what's going on around us. We are making sure that we are the eye of the storm, that there is calm, right? That we are doing what we need to do. The reason the stranger is able to sleep through the storm is because he treats every day with that mental preparation, the physical preparation to do what needs to be done regardless of what's going on around us. So that's your moment of yes for today. What do we need to do to sleep a little more soundly through storms? And special shout out to Frank Licari. Love you, brother. Sending you and the family nothing but tons of love. Have a great day, everybody.
