Good morning, everyone. Here is your Moment of Yes for Monday, March 14th. Mid-March, March Madness, big tournament starts this weekend. Favorite time of the year. I take off this weekend to join up with the national team. We've got our 3 big World Cup qualifiers. Mmm. Um, got to see Frank, uh, this past Saturday night. Shout out to Frank, uh, for being in town for a few days and getting a chance to see him. And my kids are in town for spring break, so this feels very much like a spring break week. Um, I've got a few work things this week, but it's definitely a good time just to spend time with family. And then my, you know, be gone with the team for the next 2 weeks and then on the road for a 3rd week doing other stuff. So this feels like, okay, the quiet before the storm a little bit. Um, so here we go. So one of our favorite shows, which is Drive to Survive, the F1 documentary series that comes out every year. Fascinating show, love it. The kids and I, we love it. And so watching the episode last night, and there's one of the drivers, Daniel Ricciardo, who's one of the top drivers in the world. He's on a new team, and in the first few races of the season, he's finishing like towards the bottom of the pack, which is, you know, a surprise to everybody, including him. And, you know, the show does a good job of really— all the guys are mic'd up, they take you behind the scenes, they see— you see how they're struggling with, um, you know, the adversity, um, in a— in an intimate way that you don't get a look at in, in many other sports. And after one of the races where he finished like 17th out of 20, he's hanging with like one of his, you know, managers and his performance coach. He has his own performance coach that travels with him. Shout out to F1 if anyone needs a performance coach, um, come check out this guy. Uh, so he's sitting there and obviously he's just dejected and he says, he's like, this is embarrassing, right? He's like, just, you know, just to know sort of embarrassment at that level when you know that everyone knows that you're underperforming and you can't hide from it, right? It's just like, it's you, you're the driver. And he's just, he goes, I'm embarrassed. And his coach just kind of puts his arm on his shoulder. He says, listen. He's like, how you respond and behave during adversity is how you're defined. Right? I know it's cliché, but, you know, again, it goes back to that idea of he's not telling them, hey, listen, it's going to get better. You're going to be a champion. No, he's like, hey, you're defined about how you respond during these times, during these moments, during the down periods. Right? Remind me of being in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago and sitting in that, you know, that 30 minutes of like, oh shoot, like if I have COVID, like here's all the stuff that's bad. all the stuff that's going to happen bad if this negative or this positive test holds up. And just coaching myself during that time as a reminder of, oh shoot, like, it's not about whether it's positive or negative. It's about how you respond to it either way. What is my response to it? And it just reminded me of that. And again, and just all of us have so much on our plates and there's so many things that are Out of our control, right? It's not about trying to control them more. We can't get more control of them. It's about focusing on how we are responding to things consistently, and the more consistently we respond with peace, grace, and purpose—PGB baby—peace, grace, and purpose—the just the better we're going to feel, and the happier and more successful we are. But it's not—we're not happier and more successful because of. Better things are happening. We're just responding better to everything that is happening, and that's where the gold's at. Happy Saint Patrick's Day, everybody. That's where the gold's at. That's your moment of a yes for today. Have an awesome day, everybody.
