In this brief motivational talk, the speaker opens with personal travel updates (St. Louis, Florida, Cincinnati) before sharing an exercise conducted during recent coaching calls with three groups of 30‑40 employees. Participants anonymously submitted a recurring negative thought they experience. The speaker read these aloud, noting that the same themes surfaced for everyone: the thoughts boiled down to two scripts—"I'm not good enough" (shame) and "I'm not doing enough" (guilt). He emphasizes that these patterns are programmed, not a sign of personal failure, and that everyone shares them. By recognizing the script, individuals can choose intentional behavior, shift focus to the 15‑20% of thoughts that are not negative, and increase their influence. The core actionable advice is to "talk to yourself, don't listen to yourself," fostering intentional impact and a more positive mindset.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for Monday, May 23rd. I'm back from St. Louis, had a great couple of days in St. Louis, back in Florida for a few days, then off to Cincinnati to join the team. All right, here we go. It's Monday. Here's your moment of yes. Last week, I did a few coaching calls with a company, 3 different groups with the company, kind of 30 to 40 people on each call. And I did the exercise, actually it's the first time I've tried this out with a group, They've been working with mindset so they know the idea, 80% of our thoughts are negative, 95% are repetitive, right? We've talked about that before. So, I did an exercise where I invited the people to send me a private message in the chat of one of those repetitive negative thoughts that bounces around in their head. So, as I say that, what is that negative idea that bounces around in your head? Like for me, the whole, oh, you're These people are smarter than you, right? The whole smarter, more talented, that kind of bounces around in my head a lot. So they sent me their messages and then I started reading them out loud, obviously protecting who sent it to me, but reading them out loud. And then I asked people, does any of those relate to you? And of course, they related to everybody, right? Because it's the same stinking thinking. It's the same garbage, right? We all relate to it, but it feels original because it's in our head, but it's not. So So 3 things. One, it's just the programming. It's not original. There's nothing wrong with you. You're not broken. That's just what's going on. 2, everyone has the same stuff going on. You could just replace each group, each person, and so it's not about fixing yourself. It's about recognizing that this is just what goes on. Third, the theme between the 2 messages, it was either I'm not good enough or I'm not doing enough. It's either shame or guilt, shame or guilt. So if we're letting that run our thought 80% of the time, we're going to put ourselves in a tough spot. And so we can recognize that that's the script that's going on. It's the script that's going on for everybody. And so we can just choose to be intentional, to be intentional about How we are going to behave and what impact we want to have. And as we do that, we're going to jump into that 15-20% of our thought that's not negative. And we can have more impact, more influence. So notice whatever that little thought is that bangs around you. There's more than run, but whatever those thoughts are, remember, talk to yourself. Talk to yourself. Don't listen to yourself, right? Talk to yourself, don't listen to yourself. Be intentional about what you, the impact you want to have, and go out there and crush it. That's your moment of yes for today, everybody. Have an awesome day. Bye.
