A Moment of YES: May 27th

A morning pep talk from Cincinnati. One host started a three-week daily yoga practice and wants listeners to commit to something for three weeks, texting updates for accountability. Michael Singer's books teach that spirituality means releasing attachments, not gaining things. The host talks about converting anger into action instead of holding it.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for Friday, May 27th. Good morning from Cincinnati. Um, just joined up with the team yesterday. Uh, so the next 3 weeks, um, we'll be going Cincinnati, Kansas City, Austin, and then El Salvador. Uh, so 4 games in 4 cities. So Cincinnati is first. So this morning I just, uh, restarted, uh, another, um, Commitment, a 3-week commitment. Well, hopefully beyond, but every day while I'm here, I'm going to commit to doing again at least 10 minutes of yoga. I did my first one yesterday in the hotel, woke up this morning, did my second one in the hotel, and just noticing how much better I feel when, when I have that commitment. And this is a great opportunity to do that. So anyone else want to set a 3-week commitment?
If so, say yes.
You can text me 561-676-4583, and I will hold you accountable for whatever three-week commitment you have. I just texted the two boys, Holland and Shepard, yesterday. I was like, "Hey guys, I'm doing a commitment for the next three weeks. Give me something that you want to do for three weeks, and we'll check in on one another." And they both came up with.
2 commitments. So we'll see how that goes. So now I get to decide, well, what am I going to listen to each morning while I do my yoga? So obviously I could watch a yoga video, which I'll probably do sometimes, but I also like listening to deep ideas. So while I'm just kind of doing some really, really simple moves and focusing on my breath, it gives me, you know, to hear some concepts. Is really usually really peaceful for me. So, I've been listening to Michael Singer. Michael Singer is the author of The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment. Highly recommend both.
And, he has a few different videos.
And so, the one that I was listening to this morning while doing yoga, he talked about sort of your spiritual journey. And, he's like, you will never need to get anything spiritually. Because spirituality is all about releasing and letting go, right? So I'm like, oh, that's a good little catch. Whenever I notice myself feeling like I need to get something, that would be me being out of line spiritually. And so it's noticing it's not, oh, I don't need to get something, I need to release something, usually a belief, an idea, an attachment. So I think that's really helpful thinking back over the last few days since the Texas shooting and noticing How much anger I'm carrying around, how much frustration I'm carrying around, and noticing that so that I can release it, not hide it, but release it. Because I keep going back to, all right, the anger is not— if I just stay in anger, it's not doing anything. If I just stay in sadness, it's not doing anything. It's how do I turn that into productive action? Right, releasing the emotion, shifting to action. So that's my idea for today, right, is spiritually we don't need to get anything. It's all about releasing. So what are you noticing today that you need to release so that you can release it and have an awesome Friday and have an awesome weekend?
There you go. That's your moment of yes for today, everybody.
I'll see you on Monday. Still here in Cincinnati.
Take care.
