In this short motivational monologue, the speaker delivers a daily "Moment of Yes" reflection for Monday, December 28, 2020. He recounts a breakfast encounter with his friend Evan, describing Evan as spiritually inspiring yet pragmatic. When a waitress is asked why she enjoys her job so much, she laughs and attributes the positivity to Evan’s own joyful demeanor, suggesting that the energy one projects influences how others respond. The speaker extrapolates this anecdote to a broader principle: each person carries authentic joy, compassion, and energy, and the way they express it determines whether they receive positive, negative, or indifferent feedback. He urges listeners to become conscious of the impact they have on others, to embody authentic goodness, and to notice the reflections they receive. The talk concludes with a call to "be like Evan" and to have a great day.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your Moment of Yes for Monday, December 28th, 2020. The last Monday of 2020. Yeah, you can celebrate. We're getting ever closer to New Year's Day here on Friday. And I found a sunlight highlighting my mouth. All right, that's not what this Moment of Yes is all about. So, I just got done with breakfast. About once a week when I'm in town, I have breakfast with a good friend of mine named Evan. Evan is an amazing guy, super inspiring, super spiritual, philosophical, but practical and pragmatic at the same time. So, he and I always have these really engaging, inspiring conversations. I always walk away feeling charged and energized and feeling better about life in the world. And had this funny moment today. Where, um, uh, so we're at the table and the, uh, the waitress comes over and Evan, being Evan, says, what is it about you? Are you this nice? Like, how do you just love your job so much that you bring so much joy to every table? Like, so Evan asks her that and she just bursts out laughing and she's like, no, it's you. Like, you're, you're the one who brings it. And that's why I act the way that I act. And I'm just sitting there just kind of laughing and I'm going, amen, amen, Evan, amen. So if you're Evan and you go through life that way, everyone that you run into is giving you that joy back because you're the one giving them the joy. You— they have no choice but to respond that way when you are bombarding them with that authentic goodness. And kindness and joy. And so I thought it was just an awesome example this morning to say that we have the, we have the ability, we have the power to have such a positive, negative, or indifferent impact on everyone that we come into contact with. And it doesn't— and I say like authentic and genuine because it is like Evan's joy is authentic and genuine and it's vivacious. Because that's who he is. But for each of us, we each have authentic joy and compassion and energy inside of us. It's gonna look different in each of us, but it's inside of us. And when we let that shine, and when we bring it to others in an authentic way, we shouldn't be surprised when it's mirrored back to us, nor should we be surprised when Maybe negativity is mirrored back to us as well. So, take a look at what's coming back at you. Is that a representation of what you're putting out? Or do you just need to be more conscious of how you're carrying yourself? So, that's your moment of yes for today. Be like Evan. Be like Evan. Have a great day, everybody.
