In this short motivational video, the speaker greets viewers on the first Monday of 2021 and frames the new year as a symbolic clean slate after a challenging 2020. He acknowledges the mixed emotions many feel—sadness over the holidays ending, anxiety about returning to work or school, and personal stressors such as upcoming travel and family separation. Rather than urging listeners to suppress these feelings, he encourages them to be present, breathe, and allow emotions to surface. He offers practical self‑care suggestions—taking walks, short breathing breaks, yoga, or simply watching a favorite show like Cobra Kai—and stresses the importance of self‑compassion and gentle intentionality as a way to start 2021 positively. The talk concludes with a reminder to be kind to oneself and to move forward with purpose.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your A Moment of Yes for Monday, January 4th. I hope everybody had a great holiday weekend. As we celebrate New Year's, as we move into a new year, symbolically moving into a new you, a better you. But there's no pressure in that. That's just from an intentional standpoint. And so again, symbolically, metaphorically, we have a clean slate as we move into 2021, coming out of a very, very difficult 2020. No matter who you are, outside of Jeff Bezos, it's probably been a difficult and challenging 2020. And so we move into 2021 with just a bigger, more open heart. And today, as I think about sort of the first Monday of the new year, some people are going back to school, some teachers are getting back to school, a lot of people are traveling. I've got family traveling home. People are kind of, their jobs are kind of kicking back in today. You're looking at your house that's filled with stuff, decorations that need to be taken down, and kind of needing to get back into a rhythm. And so I think there is a general feeling of transition. You know, today can feel, and this week can kind of feel like as you kind of get back into the routine. Maybe you're sad with the holidays being over. And so I think just this idea of being present with yourself and being still and noticing the stuff that's coming to the surface that maybe it's just making you feel sad or making you feel anxious and just being with those and moving through them instead of trying to push them down or distract away. And so just personally, right, I'm looking at a week that feels a little full. And there's some, you know, quite a bit to do. And then knowing that at the end of the week, I'm gonna be, you know, away from my family for the next 3 and a half weeks after this and feeling bad about that. And, you know, Trinity's gonna be leaving us at the end of the week and we probably won't see her for a few months. And so there's a lot mentally on the plate, but just every time that stuff shows up, allowing myself to Be with it, breathe through it, ask myself, what can I do right now physically as well as mentally? And just, but to be with it and to recognize that this is one of those weeks that we don't typically think about, but it's, it's from a transition mental standpoint, it's, there's a lot going on and that's okay. And so it's just self-compassion, self-care. If you need to take a walk, if you need to take 5 minutes to sit and breathe, if you need to just get on the floor and do some poses and do some yoga, whatever you need to do from a self-care perspective, or if you need to watch another episode of Cobra Kai, that's okay too. It's on my to-do list with the boys. So be kind to yourself, be gentle with yourself, and wouldn't that be a great way to start 2021? To be kind with yourself, to be with yourself, and to move gently and intentionally into 2021. That's your moment of yes for today, everyone. Have an awesome day.
