In this short motivational monologue recorded on September 19th, the speaker reflects on co‑presenting with Hollister at a Colorado summit on collaboration. Using the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and references to Coach Prime, the speaker argues that happiness and success are inherently difficult and that the true joy comes from embracing struggle. Citing Ryan Holiday’s maxim “the obstacle is the way,” and a real‑world example of Nico’s injury‑laden season at FC Dallas, the talk emphasizes that obstacles are not to be avoided but to be integrated into the journey. The speaker urges listeners to view their personal “mountain” as an opportunity for growth, to find joy wherever they are on the ascent, and to continuously climb new peaks after each summit.

Good morning, everyone. Here's your moment of our afternoon of— yes, I don't know, Tuesday, September 19th. Hollister and I are in Colorado. Hey, when in Colorado, there you go, Coach Prime in the house. Um, actually, let me see, you see mountains? Yeah, there you go, there's mountains in the distance. Hollister and I, for the first time ever, co-presenting at a conference, at a summit today on collaboration. So a lot of fun there. Your moment of yes for today is, yes, happiness and success are difficult. So embrace it on the front end and don't be surprised when it is difficult. In fact, it's the difficulty of the journey that actually is the sense of joy and fulfillment. So this has been the message she and I were talking a lot about yesterday. I just got off the phone with Nico at FC Dallas. Their season has been non-stop adversity, obstacle, injury after injury after injury after injury after setback, unlucky bounce, and it's kind of like enough is enough. But I'm like, nah, not necessarily. You know, it just, it sort of, this is the path, this is the journey. The joy and the fulfillment is in the struggle by dealing with the struggle and coming out on the other end. But we don't know when, you know, there's never not struggle. There's benchmarks along the way, and obviously success and all those things come with getting through struggles. But it's accepting that the, you know, to quote Ryan Holiday, the obstacle is the way. Not around it, not away from it. The obstacle is the way. The reason the guy at the top of the mountain or the woman at the top of the mountain celebrates is because that was hard. It was hard to get up there. So therefore, the journey is what allows for the feeling of elation once we summit. And then what do we do? We climb back down and we climb up another mountain. So as I'm in the mountains today, what does your mountain look like? Remember, don't wish that the mountain was easier. Find the joy wherever you are on the mountain today. And that's your moment of yes. Have an awesome day, everybody.
