In this brief motivational address recorded on September 26th from Spain, the speaker (a coach/team leader) shares a personal experience of dealing with a sore throat that was distracting during a player meeting. To redirect his attention, he deliberately scanned the 26‑man roster and the coaching staff, consciously identifying a positive quality he appreciated in each individual. This appreciative exercise served as a tool to shift his focus from discomfort to a feeling of love and wholeness. He extrapolates this practice into a broader principle he calls “loving the room” – intentionally recognizing and honoring the people and environment you are currently in, which can expand outward. He ends by urging the listeners to consider what in their present “room” needs love and to give it that love as they start the week.

Buenos días, everyone. Good morning. This is your moment of yes for Monday, September 26th, from Spain. Here in Spain, game tomorrow night, home sometime on Wednesday. That's the plan. So your moment of yes for today. So yesterday I kind of started feeling just kind of a sore throat, kind of a cold, and just discouraging as I went to bed last night, woke up and just kind of still feeling it. Nothing bad but annoying. And, you know, it's just one of those things that constantly, you know, constantly gets your attention. And I was Getting frustrated about it. And we were in a player meeting today. We were watching film before training with the players. So all the players are sitting down, and then the coaching staff were all kind of standing in a horseshoe around them. And I was standing there, and then I would notice my throat, and I'd be annoyed. And so just to shift my thought, I decided to just— I would look at each player, and I would just think of A different quality about them that I appreciated. And so I just kind of went through the entire 26-man roster, and then I was like, all right, well, what about the staff? And so I just kind of went through the staff and did everyone in there and just decided just to use that as a tool to shift how I was— what I was focusing on. When I focus on my throat, um, or I focus on feeling kind of drowsy, um, that's what I magnify and amplify. But when I shift my focus to focusing on something different that is empowering, that comes from a source of love and wholeness, obviously it shifts our feeling, it shifts our perspective. So it just, it had me appreciating the idea of loving the room, right? How do we love the room we're in? And we can obviously expand our love outside the room, but how do we love the room we're in? So your moment of yes for today, Monday, as we roll into the week, what a great way to roll into the week, is what does the room look like right now that you need to love? Give it some love. That's your moment of yes. Have an awesome day, everybody.
