In this short YouTube video, Ted Lasso delivers a “moment of yes,” a brief motivational talk addressed to his assistant Coach Beard and inspired by fellow Coach Thomas of the U.S. national team. Ted opens with a light‑hearted nod to his Movember mustache and acknowledges his lack of technical soccer knowledge, emphasizing instead the importance of interpersonal skills and Midwest‑rooted values. He repeatedly stresses that being a good, honest person who treats others well is the foundation for success in coaching, work, and relationships. Ted shares a personal anecdote about watching a comedy show, using humor to illustrate how genuine affection among teammates fosters a positive environment. The monologue concludes with a reaffirmation that if you are a good person people will want to work with you, encapsulating Ted’s optimistic, people‑first philosophy.

Coach Beard, we running, huh? We good? Yeah? All right. All right. Hey, here we go. Hey, everybody. Hey, Coach Ted Lasso here. Apparently, this is called a moment of yes. Yeah. A good friend of mine, Coach Thomas, with the US national team, he and I were hanging out for Halloween. And he said, hey, hey, Coach Lasso, you're a positive guy. Wouldn't mind doing my little talk that I do 3 mornings of the week. I said, hey, of course, of course. Happy to do it for another fellow Coach like yourself, Coach Thomas. So hey, here we go. Your moment of yes is what we call it. We'll say the yes, Coach Beard, your excellent self. Ooh, I like that. Your excellent self. Okay. All right, here we go. So happy November, everybody. November 1st. This is your moment of yes for November 1st. You see Coach Lasso still got the mustache going. Yeah, look at that. Yeah, it's, it's Movember. Yeah, big, big month for the mustache here in Movember. Okay, now while we're here, hey, a lot of people ask, hey, Coach Lasso, how does an American football coach from the middle of nowhere go over to Europe and coach these guys doing the little footy thing on the field, right? And here's the thing, right? I still don't know what I'm doing. I still don't know what offsides is. I still don't know the rules. But one thing I do know, one thing I do know is I know how to interact with people, right? Midwest taught me that, right? You be good to people, people be good to you, right? When it comes to performance, when it comes to creating great teams, the specifics, it's not so much about what you're doing, it's about who you are. Are you a good person? Are you honest? Are you someone that you want to go grab a cup of coffee for, huh? That's what it comes down to, being a good person. You know, Coach Thomas, talking to Coach Thomas, He still doesn't even know if he's any good at what he does. Doesn't even know if he's any good, but what he told me is, hey, Coach Lasso, apparently people like to work with me, right? As long as people want to work with me, I'm going to stay employed, right? Ain't that great? I'm going to stay employed. Coach Beard, what do you think about that? All right, Coach Beard. All right. Yeah. Be a good person. Be somebody that people want to spend time with. You be that person, you're going to have plenty of opportunities. That applies to everything. That applies to To your jobs, to your relationships, to your friendships. In fact, I got a chance to go see that Jove comedy. Was that the Jove? Jove, something about Jupiter. Yeah, that comedy. Those boys funny. That little Italian guy, he's funny. He's funny. Yeah. And the big guy looks like maybe he's from Florida. Yeah, the big one. And looks like he does a lot of fishing, right? Coach Beard, you a fisher? I don't think so, Coach Beard. All right. Those guys are funny. You can tell those guys love each other. They love each other, right? They're having fun on stage and they love each other, right? Coach Thomas told me he loves those 2 son of a bitches. Ooh. Oh, sorry. Coach Lasso lost his tongue there. All right. So there you have it. Hey, be a good person. We know goldfish, be a goldfish, huh? They're happy. 8-second memory. I say you be a good person. You be a good person, people are going to want to work with you. People are going to want to spend time with you. Yep. And that's your Coach Lasso moment of yes for today. Your excellent self. Ooh. I'm going to have to put that on a sign or something. Have a great day.
