In this informal community livestream, the host (Speaker A) opens by welcoming guest Matt Miller, a two‑time principal of the year and change‑agent now working in corporate leadership. The host outlines his own role as a leadership and team‑dynamics coach for the U.S. men’s national soccer team during a 10‑day camp that culminates in a match against El Salvador. With two video analysts absent, he will step into the video‑analysis booth for the game, illustrating his practice of “wearing different hats.” He expands the hat metaphor to describe the need for humility, flexibility, and a value‑adding mindset in both professional and personal contexts, encouraging listeners to consider which “hat” they are wearing today. The talk ends with a rallying cry for the match, a call for audience interaction, and a reminder to share which hat they’re wearing in the comments.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for today. It is Wednesday, December 9th. First of all, I need to acknowledge and welcome to the Live Yes and Patreon community Mr. Matt Miller. Matt is my guy. Matt is a good dear friend of mine for what heck man six seven years at this point, and super pumped to have you on here. So everyone, a big Matt Miller applause, and Matt is a fantastic guy. I met Matt in St. Louis. When I did a few of those events with John O'Leary, and Matt and John are good friends, and Matt was one of the speakers, and Matt is amazing. This like two-time principal of the year and change agent, and now he's bringing that work to the corporate environment. So Matt, my man, I love you, brother. Thanks for being here. So your moment of yes for today, everyone, is so today is match day. Today is match day. We play El Salvador tonight. And so this has been a 10-day camp. It culminates in the match, and then everyone kind of goes their separate ways in the morning. And so I was just appreciating yesterday. And so to be sort of with this group and to be, you know, with the national team, and I was brought in specifically to help kind of oversee the culture and To be on the coaching staff, and I'm, and I'm a leadership and team dynamics coach, but then I'm also helping oversee videos that reinforce our message and our values and our anchors. And, and then I'm working with the guys and I'm working with the team and I'm being a resource to the staff. And so I'm wearing all of these different hats during camp. And I was just appreciating that yesterday because My responsibilities tonight for the game is we are down 2 of our video analysts and 2 of our video guys that, that they're coaches. And so they, they film during the match. It's live streamed to the coaches who are on the bench, and they're, they're gathering analytics and they're gathering all that stuff, of which I know nothing about. But we are— we're down 2 guys. They're back in Chicago. And so to help out the other coach, I am going to be up in the video booth tonight. Tonight filming the game internally and doing some things that help our, our coaches. And so, um, uh, I'm just sort of laughing and appreciating that the other day because like, oh wow, like that's just another— it's another hat you get to wear. It's a— it's, it's another way to add value. And so I, I know I've mentioned it a lot before that, you know, part of my mantra each day is how can I add value? How can I add value? How can I help? Right. Where can I be supportive? And instead of getting ourselves pigeonholed into different roles or specific roles, or our ego needs to be recognized of, oh, I can't do that. I'm the leadership guy and I need to be on the field and I need to be— instead of getting ourselves pigeonholed into these different roles, whether that's with the work that you're doing or just in your personal life, just having that humility And that grace and that willingness to ask yourself, what hat do I have to wear right now? In this situation, in this moment, what is being called forth? What hat do I need to wear? You know, and we can look at that from a practical standpoint like I'm having to do tonight, or we can look at it from an emotional standpoint, a mental standpoint. Do I need to wear the supportive hat right now? Do I need to wear the encouraging hat? Do I need to wear the patient hat? Do I need to wear the shut up and don't say anything hat? And so I think we have these opportunities all throughout the day to wear different hats. And if we have an openness and a humility to doing that, then it makes it a whole lot easier to take one off and put it on the hat rack and grab the other one and just do what is being called, what is being called forth in that moment. So that's what I'm thinking about today. US-El Salvador tonight. Go USA! And it should be a good game. What hat are you guys wearing today? Yeah, let me know in the comments below. Have a great day, everyone.
