In this short morning reflection video, the speaker recounts a stressful incident involving an unpaid traffic violation in San Bernardino, California, which led to a $300 fee and a frustrating phone call with the courthouse. He describes how both he and his companion, Hollister, became emotionally upset, exposing underlying stories and baggage related to finances, victimhood, and self‑condemnation. The core insight he shares is that the way we respond to a situation is more important than the situation itself, and even more crucial is how we respond to our own response—recognizing self‑criticism and using it as a learning opportunity. He frames this meta‑reflection as a “moment of yes” after a “moment of no.” The video concludes with a shout‑out to Evan from freakybeautiful.com, praising the daily inspirational blog and expressing a desire to collaborate regularly.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes. And I have to say yesterday was a huge moment of no. I had a horrible, horrible situation yesterday that obviously ends up being a great learning opportunity, but it involved a traffic violation in California on our trip. An unpaid traffic violation that incurred an additional $300 fee and trying to resolve that on the phone yesterday with the California courthouse in San Bernardino. And it just didn't go well. So Hollister and I both had the opportunity to talk with them and we both failed miserably. Now we failed miserably from the standpoint Of how emotionally upset we got and how we responded to it. And I can tell you with all honest transparency that I didn't do well. So a couple of things came up as a result of this is that, A, we both noticed how upset we were about the situation and then all the stories and history and baggage that we still Yeah. And what emotions do you still have attached to certain things, finances, bank account, feeling like a victim and things like that? So we noticed all those things that showed up. And then a new insight for me was, you know, how we respond to a situation I talk about is more important than the situation itself. But what I realized yesterday was how we respond to how we responded is actually even a bigger insight because there was so much self-condemnation, guilt, regret that both of us felt yesterday because we responded so poorly that wanted to actually have us spiral down even deeper into our loathing abyss. And so just thinking about, wow, this is an opportunity to actually notice how I'm responding to my response and then notice what showed up there. Maybe this is like Inception and I'm totally going too deep for you here, but for me, this was a huge learning insight to notice what I'm noticing and then just to take it back to, wow, what did I learn from this situation? What baggage, what stories are still there and how am I going to move forward? So that's your moment of yes for today. Real quickly, I want to give a shout out to Evan at freakybeautiful.com.
