Facts are fixed, but reality is the meaning you assign them. Change your perspective on what happened, and you change your experience of it. The speaker uses a video example: same scene, different camera angle and lighting, completely different feeling.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for today. I've been talking a lot this week with students, and I know I've shared this idea before, so it's nothing new. The difference between facts and reality. The facts are sort of what has happened, the details, the information of what has happened, and those are just sort of the facts. You know, you look at your bank account, you see how many zeros are in there, or you look at The facts of sort of what is happening during the day, the fact that maybe the clouds are out, whatever it is. So those are facts. Reality— I think we tend to skew the two— reality is what you make it mean to you, the meaning or the value you give the facts. It's not that we're changing the facts, we are deciding what we're going to make it mean to us. So our reality therefore becomes What we experience based on the meaning that we give something. And so today, I don't know if you noticed today, but today the lighting is different for the video, right? I must have added more lights. I must— but no, I didn't do anything. All I did is change the perspective. I changed the perspective of the camera. I've got more— same amount of light in the room, but the way that it's hitting me this morning is different because I've changed the angle. I've changed the direction of the camera. Therefore, you get to see more of my beautiful sunburned face with short hair, which Halster's not a fan of. But all I did is change the perspective. I didn't change the facts. All I did is change the perspective, which therefore has changed my reality. It's really as simple as that. So whatever you are looking at life today, don't change the facts. Shift your perspective and it shifts your reality. Can you look at it from a different angle, from a different perspective, and therefore your reality changes? Isn't that amazing? That's your moment of yes for today, everyone. Have a wonderful day.
