AMOY: Do Your Job!

A speaker talks about showing up with empathy and collaboration in your relationships and teams. You can't control whether others reciprocate, but you can control how you present yourself: humble, non-judgmental, open. Your responsibility is to maintain your own peace, not to manage what others do.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for today. Sorry about the whole lighting thing here. It's kind of bright in the front, dark in the back. It's early, so I kind of had to make the best out of our lighting situation. So sorry about this. I say that to my wife every day. Sorry about this. Can't do anything about it. So your moment of yes for today is I've been doing a lot of training and workshops this week, talking to people about empathy and collaboration and how important that is in creating a dynamic team and creating healthy relationships. And for each of us to show up empathically, looking to collaborate, looking to support other people. And feedback I get a lot from others are, that's great, I totally agree, I need to work on that. But what happens when I show up that way? And other people don't, or they have no interest in wanting to reciprocate empathy or collaboration. What am I supposed to do then? And they usually, you know, kind of add that with an answer that question, smarty pants kind of way. And the answer to that question is you can't. You can't control how someone else is going to show up, ever. You can never, ever control someone else's receptivity, someone else's response. But it's totally irrelevant. It's all about how you show up. You go out there, you show up the best way you can. You show up to every situation empathically. You show up to every situation ready to collaborate, ready to yes and, ready to work with people, to be humble, to be nonjudgmental. You show up that way. It doesn't matter what other people do. It's how you respond. And so when, when 2 people show up and they both have that mindset, that's when you create real magic. But all you can do is just make sure that your receptors are open, that your mindset is open, so that when someone else welcomes into that same space, that's when you can experience some real, real magic. And when it doesn't happen, when other people don't show up that way, well, guess what? You still maintain your level of peace and satisfaction and harmony Because you are responsible for that yourself, not on how others or what the circumstances say. You got it? That's your Moment of Yes for today, everyone. Have a good day.
