In this short motivational talk, the speaker reflects on the metaphor of high‑wire performance, citing Nik Wallenda’s Grand Canyon walk and the spoken‑word piece “Fear of Transformation” by Fran McKendry. He argues that true life occurs not on solid ground but in the precarious space between two trapeze bars – the “in‑between” where one must let go of familiar security and trust a larger power. The speaker urges listeners to identify what makes them feel fully alive, to recognize a personal “wire,” and to take at least one concrete step—big or small—toward that daring, purposeful action. The talk ends with a call to embrace this “moment of yes” for the day.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for today. I want to go back and to— I was talking about Nik Wallenda the other day and the walk that he made across the Grand Canyon. And he and his father, I guess their family, they have a saying or a quote. And basically, life is on the wire. They talk about how, you know, life being lived is really on the wire. It's not when you're on solid ground. It's when you're up there. You know, you're fully invested, you're focused, you're engaged. That's where life is happening. And I think often we tend to try to avoid those moments as much as possible. So we spend as much time as we can feeling safe and secure and stable, which is sort of the opposite approach of what they're talking about. Today I've included a link. If you look at the link, it says Fear of Transformation, and this is a song by Fran McKendry. And it's now become one of my sort of favorite songs of all time. It's more of a spoken word poem. I can't remember who wrote it, but I'll include that information also. And it's all about not being on the wire, but being on that space in between 2 trapeze bars. Imagining hurtling through space and being at that space in between, letting one bar go and seeing that other one in the distance. And how it's not— life is not when you're hanging on to a bar. Life is when you are at that space in between, completely unattached. You are alive. You are relying on a power bigger than whatever bar security has given you, whether that bar is a job, a person, a bank account, whatever it may be. Life is when you are in between that space, totally trusting, totally living, living on purpose, living in faith, living in love. So, Get in between those bars. Get up on your wire. What can you do today? I'm not talking about physical safety as far as, yeah, let's go do a high wire act today. I'm talking about what things in life do you do that just bring you alive. And it's not so much about, okay, this is a smart decision that is about financial security or whatever. What is that thing that, that makes you feel totally connected to a power outside of yourself, bigger than yourself, that puts you up on that wire? Think about it. And then is there one step you can take today, something little, something small, or a big leap? That's your moment of yes for today, everyone. Have a wonderful day.
