How you label what happens to you matters more than what actually happens. A positive thinker accepts reality but chooses an empowering frame, while a negative thinker can dismiss good things as drawbacks. Shakespeare said thinking makes it so; the speaker says labeling makes it so.

Good morning from a rainy South Florida this morning, everyone. This is your Moment of Yes. During my listening this morning, this idea, this thought popped in my head that I would rather be positive and have bad things happen than to be negative and have good things happen. And the reason for thinking that this morning, I'm not sure, but the idea came to me about how we decide to process, how we decide to label and make sense of the things that happen in our lives. And the whole idea of being a positive thinker sometimes gets a bad rap. People accuse you if you're positive, it just means that you're in denial or you're ignoring the bad things that are sort of happening in your life or happening in the world. But the difference though, I think with that, is that when you are a positive thinker who is constantly looking for the good in something, it means that you are constantly reframing or redefining the events that happen. In your life. And so if something quote-unquote bad happens, it's not that you are ignoring it or denying it. You're actually accepting it, but then you're choosing how you label it or process it. Compared, if you are a negative person all the time, good things could be happening around you all of the time, but instead of seeing them as good quote-unquote, you find a way to find the negative or label them as bad. You know, Shakespeare said, nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. And I love to take that quote and change thinking to labeling. Nothing is either good or bad, but labeling makes it so. So as we go through our day today, do you have a negative victim mindset or a positive victor mindset? And as we envision how we want the day to go, and as things happen, Good or bad, how are we labeling them? If you have more of a positive bent, then you might label it. You might redefine it. You might reclaim it as a good thing. It's just a label after all. It is what you make it. That is your moment of yes for today. Have a wonderful day.
