AMOY: Soak Time!

Travis Thomas explains soak time: deliberately sitting with new ideas so they take root instead of running off like rain on hardened soil. Without it, insights stay surface-level. Building daily reflection time lets concepts actually change how you think and act.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for today, Tuesday. Is it me or is this light perfect right now? So I'm gonna have to bottle this time, use this time as my lighting each day. So your moment of yes for today, actually it goes back to a conversation I had with a good friend Heather a couple weeks ago when I was in St. Louis. So SP, thanks for this idea. I've been sitting with it for a while. And I guess this is how it's kind of showing up today, but whenever you are learning a new concept or a new idea, a new insight, a new inspiration, it's really important that you build in the time to sit with it, to be with it, to soak with it, to have what she called soak time. You know, instead of just— a lot of times we just, we get a new insight, we get a new idea, or new information comes, we take it, we're like, yeah, yeah, we got it, and we move on. And when we do that, we experience kind of the runoff effect, which is just like in a droughted area when it's been dry for so long, any little bit of rain that comes along, which should kind of nourish the dry land, it actually kind of hits the surface and then just runs off because the water hasn't had enough time to soak. It hasn't had enough time to seep in. To have an impact on the actual surface, have an impact on the actual, the soil or underneath or into the roots. So when we're dry for so long, when we're not sort of building in that time, any new insight or new information which might seem really cool at the moment actually just kind of, it just runs off. It just runs off the surface. It might be a moment of like, oh, that's a really cool idea, I'm going to use that. But unless we really build in that time for soak time, that new idea, that new concept, how we are going to practice it, it's not going to sit in. And the best way to have these insights and this inspiration of our spirituality, of our yes, of our purpose, to really have an impact is to build in that time every day for soak time. To have soak time every day so that when you have a new idea or a new concept, You're already— your soil is nurtured, it's tilled, it's ready to receive it, and you build in the time ready to sit with that idea, to resonate with the idea, and to try to build that idea into action. When we don't, we just get hit with it and it just runs off like during a drought. A little bit longer today, I apologize, but wanted to make sure we had that concept hit. That's how it's showing up for me today. That's your moment of yes for today, everyone. Have a wonderful day. Thank you, Travis.
