In this personal monologue, the speaker shares a family routine they began in 2013: after breakfast each morning, the whole family takes five minutes of silent, quiet time for listening, prayer, or meditation, either together or individually. The speaker reports that this brief period of peace has helped both parents and children reset, refocus, and adopt a calmer, more centered mindset. Following the quiet time, the children spend a few minutes journaling their thoughts. The speaker emphasizes the broader value of carving out short moments of quiet throughout the day—whether in the car, on a walk, or elsewhere—to reduce distractions, reflect, and improve wellbeing, encouraging listeners to try similar practices.

Good morning. Here is your moment of yes. I got kicked off my patio this morning, so I'm in a new location. With 2013, my wife and I decided to start a new routine with our kids. What we do now every morning is after breakfast, after everyone has finished and they're starting to kind of relax and do their own discovery, is we all sit down and we either sit down together or they can go outside, they can go into their own room, whatever. But we take 5 minutes of silence, 5 minutes of quiet time, of listening, of prayer, of meditation. Whatever they choose to do with that time, they can do it. So it's just kind of 5 minutes of peace. And we're 2 weeks into it, cross your fingers, but it's been going amazingly well so far. Not only just for myself and my wife to have 5 minutes of additional kind of quiet reflection time, But we've noticed how that space for our kids and for all of us doing it together really kind of restarts, reboots, and refocuses everyone into a calm, centered, peaceful mindset. And so we're really excited with how it's going thus far. And then we take some journal time afterwards and the kids just kind of journal on whatever they're thinking about. And so I say this kind of as my moment of yes this morning is because I have found such tremendous value in taking these quiet moments throughout the day, whether it's in the car turning the radio off or just going for a walk where we can quiet the noise, get rid of distractions, and just be alone with our thoughts, reflective, meditative, prayerful, and just listen. And so nothing more to add today than find that time for yourself, even if it's just a few minutes a day, and notice the difference that it makes. That's your moment of yes for today. Have a wonderful day.
