AMOY: Two Wolves!

A Native American parable about two wolves inside us: one feeds on fear and anger, the other on truth and compassion. The wolf you feed wins. Notice which one you're nurturing throughout your day and choose to feed the one that serves you.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your moment of yes for today. Happy Monday. Hope everyone is doing well. So I started reading a book this weekend that was an early Father's Day gift from, from Hollister and the kids. It's by Tom Shadyac. It's called Life's Operating Manual. Tom Shadyac is the guy that did I Am the movie, the director of Ace Ventura and Liar Liar and all those great Jim Carrey comedies. Obviously, I Am, the documentary, is about what we can do individually to basically help the world, be a better person, help the world. So his book kind of picks up, what if we had an operating manual for life? What would that look like? So the book has been amazing. I love it thus far. He uses one of my favorite sort of Native American stories or parables about Sharing that in each of us there are 2 wolves. There is sort of the evil wolf, or the fear wolf, and the truth wolf. And the fear wolf is obviously fear-based. There's a lot of anger, jealousy, frustration, ego in that wolf. And the truth wolf, there's compassion, love, a lot of good things there in truth. And so throughout the book, he's having conversations at the end of the chapter between Truth and fear. And it reveals sort of— and he's saying it's his own truth and fear, how it's showing up. But obviously, it's very universal and connects with all of us. And the end of the story of the 2 wolves is which— only one wolf is allowed to live within each of us. So which wolf lives? And the answer is whichever one you feed. And so as you go throughout your day today and throughout the week, when you notice yourself feeling a certain way, ask yourself, which wolf am I feeding? Which feelings are coming to the surface? Are you feeding the wolf of fear or are you feeding the wolf of truth? And you'll be able to tell based on how you're feeling which wolf you are feeding. And which wolf do you ultimately want to win inside of you? I'm pulling for the truth wolf. So work at it, have fun with it, and just use that as a great noticing tool this week to see which wolf you're giving your attention to. That's your moment of yes for today, everyone. Have a wonderful day.
