AMOY: What Really is the YES?

The 30-Day Yes challenge boils down to mindfulness: staying present and conscious so you choose your responses instead of reacting automatically. Like colored glitter stirred into water, thoughts and emotions settle when you observe them without getting caught up, leaving you clear and calm enough to act with purpose.

Good morning, everyone. Here is your Moment of Yes for today. Happy— what is it, Wednesday? Is today Wednesday? Today is hump day! Happy Wednesday, everyone. You know, if being a couple of years— well, not quite a couple of years into 30 Days of Yes, if I had to sum up sort of what I feel 30 Days of Yes and this What the site is all about, the practice is all about, it's just one word and that would be mindfulness. Just the idea of being mindful, of being conscious, of being present, awake, alert to every moment as much as possible. And I know that is super difficult. I catch myself being unconscious all of the time and so I think the idea of living your yes and living your purpose is just living as mindful as possible where you are actually getting to choose your responses. You are getting to choose your thoughts and choose the way that you respond to things. I saw a great video the other day about mindfulness and using this idea of a glass of water as an analogy. You take a glass of water and you put in some different kind of colored glitter that represents thoughts and some other colored glitter that represents emotions, and you take it and you stir it all up. And if that represents you and your consciousness, you've got all of these stirred-up thoughts, all of these stirred-up emotions, and it's obviously— we all know it's very difficult to act consciously and to act calmly And clearly in that kind of situation. But if you can be present, if you can be present in that moment and notice all of the crazy thoughts and all the crazy emotions and just instead of getting caught up in them, just notice them, observe them, and be conscious, they will soon— and if you don't get wrapped up in it, they will soon settle and they will settle to the bottom and they'll calm down. And it's the same water. You're in the same cup of water. The water is just clear now because you've allowed the thoughts and emotions to settle to the bottom by just being present, by just being in the moment, by noticing them. And once they settle, again, you're in the same water, but your choice of action is a lot more clear now because you can see without the influence of the emotions and the thoughts. And I love that analogy. And to me, that's what being mindful and present is all about, and connecting yourself, connecting yourself to your, to your deeper source, be it God, love, the universe. So just want to share that today. Go out there and be mindful. Have a mindful yes purpose day. That's your moment of yes, everyone. Have a great day.
