AMOY: Zoom!

A speaker uses a picture book that zooms out on each page as a metaphor for stepping back from immediate problems. When you're stuck on one thing, you miss how it fits into your larger life. Pull back to see what you're learning and how this difficulty connects to everything else.

Good morning everyone. Here is your moment of yes for today. The moment of yes for today is all about zoom. There it is. That is a cool book that we rented from the library this week and I read it for the kids and it's a zoomed-in image and then the next page they zoom out more and then they zoom out more, zoom out more, zoom out more and they do that like 20 times and each time you get a different and new perspective of what you're actually zoomed in on. And it just keeps on pulling back and back and back and back. I love this idea and I love this analogy because so often we tend to look at life from this perspective. We look at that thing that's right in front of our face, the problem, the challenge that's right in front of our face, and it's almost all-consuming. And it's difficult to see the bigger lessons or the bigger perspective or, or the dots that are actually being perfectly connected in our life. But when we look at it from this perspective, we can't see that full— we can't see the full view. And so I often challenge people, if your hand is right in front of your face, pull the hand out and look at it even just from a few feet perspective. And now you get to see a bigger picture of what is possible, of what is actually going on, the context of what this problem might be bringing up in your life. But it's just It's just a thread in the bigger tapestry, the bigger story of your life. And so often all we have to do when we find ourselves stuck, feeling anxious, feeling frustrated about a problem that's right in front of our face, we need to zoom out. We need to pull back and have a bigger perspective where we can see the whole picture, the full picture, and ask ourselves, what am I learning right now that might fit into the bigger picture? And even if we're not learning it, we'll get an opportunity to learn it later anyways. So for today, your moment of yes, zoom out, get a bigger perspective of whatever problem is challenging you right now. That's your moment of yes for today. Have a wonderful day, everyone. Bye.
