Hi, my name is Travis Thomas. I'm the creator of Live Yes, And, and today I'm going to give you a Yes, And principle that you can live. In improvisation, when an actor takes the stage, they have to make choices. They just can't stand there and wait for the scene to happen. That's what Yes, And is all about. You or your partner have an idea, they share it, you accept it with yes, The and is how you further the scene with more information. Life is no different. Life is happening and life is happening to you. By saying yes to what is happening, you accept what is going on. The and is your response. And so when we respond with purpose to everything that's going on, we are living yes and, and we're living yes and with power and authority. What is authority? What's the root word of authority? We all know that authority is having control, being in a position of power. But what's the root word of authority? It's author. And what does an author do? An author creates. An author writes his or her own story. So when we take authority for our lives and we take that authority that's based on our purpose, we live authentically. And when we live authentically with purpose, we can collaborate with reality in a powerful way. But you have to make choices. Life is happening. You say yes. Your and response comes from your purpose and you choose that response with power. You have authority. So, as a result, you're not a victim. You can never be victimized unless you stop and allow yourself to be a victim. Instead, take what is given to you, say yes to it, and respond with purpose, respond with authority. That's how we take authority for our life. Not by controlling what happens, but always controlling how we respond. With purpose, with authenticity, which leads to life-transforming collaboration.
