Welcome to the Yes Report, formerly the Yes Vlog, which, you know, the word vlog just doesn't do it for me, so I ditched it. This is now the Yes Report for 30 Days of Yes, April 21st. How is everyone doing today? I wanted to let you know a little bit about what is new on the site, and then we'll get you to the theme for today's Yes Report, which is Travis is an idiot, but I'll come back to that in a minute. What is new on the site? Starting June 1st, I am excited to announce that we will be piloting the first ever 30 Days of Yes Fitness. I'll be working with strength and conditioning coach Sean Brown, and we're developing a program that's going to bring mindfulness to the discipline of fitness in your life. 30 days, 30 activities, 30 different exercises. After 30 days, you'll have this natural fitness routine that's just, just the idea of fitness will be integrated into your life in a very natural way. And so whether you're someone who exercises every day or you're just having a hard time getting off the couch for the first time, this program can be customized however you like so that it works for you. Again, that starts June 1st, 30 Days of Yes Fitness. Go to the Join the Yes Solution page on the site To sign up for that. Excited about it. Also, this week we posted another Yes interview series, this time with Duane Van Hoose, the founder of Paddle for Peace. And great interview with him, and go to paddleforpeace.com to get more information for that. So that blog should be found right below my Yes report here. So today's theme, Travis is an idiot. Now you talk to my wife, she'll agree with you, but the reason that's the title for today is because actually today I want to talk a little bit about just the stories that we tell, the ideas, the thoughts that tend to recycle in our head and how they can be destructive to us. So today I tried to fix something on my daughter's dresser drawer. And just so you know, my history is that I am not a real handyman kind of guy. Actually, I stress out when it comes to handyman projects. I feel inadequate. I feel dumb. I feel like an idiot. So as I was working on a real simple fix today, I totally botched it, made it worse, almost destroyed the furniture. Maybe I did. I don't know. But I totally just started to beat myself up mentally. I could feel myself physically and sort of emotionally getting angry, getting frustrated. And then just all the thoughts that came to the surface as a result of this. Again, feeling that I'm an idiot, that I'm not smart, that I'm not intelligent. And all those thoughts kind of came to the surface. And although in the heat of the moment, it's hard to kind of just notice those thoughts, I did have the opportunity and ability to take a step back, to pause, to remove myself from the situation, and then just notice those thoughts that come to the surface every time I work on a project like this. And just to realize that these thoughts or ideas are a story that I've created about my own sense of self-knowledge and ability when it comes to working on these things. So where I am right now is instead of feeling like Travis is an idiot, I am telling the story that Travis currently struggles with handyman projects, and I am willing To do what I need to do, get a little smarter, get a little more handier, instead of just resolving to the fact that I am an idiot. But the way I'm doing that is just by noticing my thoughts and choosing other thoughts that aren't so destructive and realizing that's just a story I have created for myself. So, not seeing myself as an idiot, but seeing someone who is struggling and currently struggling, but has the ability to grow and learn and get better. So that's your yes report for April 21st. Thank you so much for being on 30 Days of Yes and seeing everything we have to offer. Just continue to be a blessing to the world and keep saying yes. Have a good day.
