The Busiest Season Never Ends | Why 'We're Fine' Is Your Biggest Red Flag

Vicky Samios warns that couples who appear fine but feel disconnected are in danger. Polite coexistence lets resentment build. She offers a three-step framework: set boundaries, schedule uninterrupted talk time, and hold weekly marriage meetings to renegotiate roles and goals.

Hi, I'm Vicky Samios, and if you are married and you don't fight with your husband or wife anymore, then this is for you. If you're someone who lives in drama, this video is not for you. The chaos— no, that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about those who look great to the world, but when they get home behind closed doors, things aren't so great. This is for the couples who look solid on paper but feel empty in private. Now, if you give me the next 5 minutes, I'll show you why polite coexistence is way more dangerous than conflict and the 3-step structure that Peter and I use with our high-performing couples, men and women that we work with, to reconnect without blowing up your life. So Peter and I, we've been working together for a long time. We're married for 10 years plus, and we call this the Relationship Reset Structure. It's not therapy, it's not how to communicate better, it's a guided framework that allows two 2 intelligent adults who live together to finally have a real conversation safely without high emotions. No telling off, no nagging. So Peter and I have been in business for years now. We've been married for over 10 years. We've got our 3 beautiful kids who are still little, but we've rebuilt our marriage using this exact structure, and I want to give it to you. We're not just hoping things will get better every day, so I want to share with you the shift that we had, and it's not surface level. It is deep, and it will require a little bit of your time. No time for explosions. Now you can become an exceptional co-manager of your household, but what's really going on between you? If you're waiting for the right time, the right time is now. Applyformentorship.com. Now let's get back to the video. You're paying your mortgage, you've got your to-dos, You saying you, you don't really tackle problems. What are you actually talking about? Are you just talking about the logistical side of your life? Where are the kids going and what time? Or what do we have to do on the weekend? Whose family do we have to go visit? The thing is, you can listen to a lot of podcasts. You can go on weekend trips away here and there. Or you could just tell yourself, hey, we're just in a busy season. Things are going to get better. Or when the kids get older, we'll reconnect. Actually, that's the problem. You need to put the work in now because later on you're going to have an empty nest and go, oh my gosh, I don't know why we're even together. I don't want you to get to that. Absence of conflict is not the presence of connection. Okay, my resentment goes unspoken, it calcifies, it sticks. And when your roles are assumed, you never renegotiated how you evolve as a couple and as a person. What are your needs? Now, you might not want to be chatting about things because you don't want to rock the boat, so this polite distance becomes your life. That's not living, is it? And you're not really happy. I wasn't either. Peter and I worked so hard that I often did have conversations who were either too tired or kept saying, it's not the right time, at 9:30 at night when the kids were in bed. We're like, we just need to rest, or I would stay up working on my business. Now, both partners are partners in marriage, and they both keep score, and your body does too. There's a gap in your perception, and one partner might think, oh, I'm fine, and the other one is privately planning the exit. It happens all the time. I want you to have chats and talks without blowing up. Peter and I have learned that resentment is what's damaging your relationship. You get angry And I've been angry before. To the world, I was like, oh, smiley, doing my thing. But when the evening came, I didn't know how to talk with Peter. This relationship conversation that you need to have is vital for you. Now, you need to have boundaries. Each of you needs to ask each of you what you really want. That's the first thing. What do you want? How do you see your future? Like, just immediate future, not even talking one year down the track. What does your partnership actually look like in this season, and what do you want it to look like? No interruptions, no rebuttals. Don't have the kids around. You just need to make space and time to chat with each other. Defensiveness will kill your marriage. Now, you're high achieving, you're smart, but you lack structure in your personal life. How paradoxical is that? Weekly meetings together like a business, put a new calendar. You need to build your marriage from the ground up again. If this has resonated with you, I need you to realize that your marriage needs even more work than your business or your career. And these months and months of avoidance are what are absolutely killing the connection that maybe you once had. And then some of you might be thinking, hey, but I'm not attracted to my partner anymore. Well, Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Are you taking care of yourself? Are you someone who's also there for their partner and really brutally honest? Not in a telling-off kind of way, but in a way that says, hey, I care for you, and this version of our life just isn't right. I don't want your kids to look at you and remember you and say, hey, my parents never hugged, my parents never kissed, because they're modeling their future relationships on you. So come on, what are you doing? Fix your relationship. Firstly, fix yourself. And there's something that I absolutely love, and you've seen it in probably my other videos. Self-leadership is your key to access that better version of you and that next level relationship that you know you can have. The easy thing is to quit, right? And a lot of couples just drift apart without having any reason. It doesn't make sense because I want you to have this beautiful relationship just like mine is with Peter. We work hard at it every single day. Well, I know that results come once you start working hard at something. There is no room for failure. So I'm here right by your side. If anything here has struck a chord with you, just know that Peter and I are here for you, and we'd love to hear from you. I'd love to hear your story. Go to applyformentorship.com. We can't wait to hold your hand and to really support you on this beautiful journey that we've been on as well, because we know life can look so different for you. You just can't see it yet.
