What is a bucket list?

Vicky Samios walks you through building a bucket list using the Wheel of Life framework, which covers ten areas from money and health to romance and career. She shows concrete ways to track your goals: write them on paper, put them in a jar, make a poster with an "I did it" column, and review daily.

Your ultimate bucket list. Do you have a bucket list? Do you know what a bucket list is? So bucket list is all the things that you want to do, achieve, um, have everything that you dream of. That's your bucket list. So for a lot of people, they have a holiday bucket list. So they've got all the destinations that they want to go and visit and see, um, throughout their life. So I want you now to go back to your Wheel of Life balance. So there's many reasons why we've done that, that beautiful Wheel of Life balance. And here you go, your updated one. So let's look at all the areas. In money and finances, what's your bucket list that you want to achieve or have? Dream big, put it on paper. And I want you to just think really hard. If you need to pause this, pause the video, that's fine, and then do it. So money, finances, what is it that you have on your bucket list to have? And I'll give you an example. For many of you, financial freedom, but at what cost? So financial freedom, and then describe exactly what you'll be doing, smelling, feeling, being, everything. And then with your health, what's your ultimate bucket list with your health? Where is it you want to be? And when do you want all of that by? What do you want to be doing? What new hobbies do you want to take up? What do you want to look like? What do you want to feel like? What does health mean to you? Is it just health of you or your family? That leads us to the next one, family. So what do you want to be doing with your family? How big do you want your family? Do you want to extend your family? Do you want to have a family? Do you want to find a partner? Do you want to move with your family? What is it you want to be doing with your family? And then with your friends as well. How do you see yourself with your friends? Ultimately, if all your problems went away, where would you like to be with your friends? What would you like to be doing? And what friends would you have in your life? What circle would you have? Who is in your close circle of people that you hang around, that you learn from, that you share experiences with, and you enrich your life and they enrich theirs by being around each other. Romance, big one. And you know your love language. Have you looked at your love language yet? Make sure you look at your love language so that you know if you're a gifts type of person or if you're a touchy-feely type of person. Most of us know, but it's just nice to kind of answer some questions and see that. So romance, what's your ultimate romance that you want to have in your life? Does it mean someone giving you lots of gifts all the time? Does it mean lots of quality time with somebody? Ultimately, what is it you need for romance? And then personal growth. Do you want to learn more techniques in your work? Do you want to go into a different career? Do you want to Think laterally in your current career. Do you wanna change jobs? Do you wanna work less, work more? And this ties in with all of the Wheel of Life balance factors, absolutely. And fun and recreation. What holidays do you want to do? When, with who? How often, how many weeks a year do you wanna take off work? How many hours a week do you want to work so that you can free yourself up for certain days or weekends? How are you going to infuse fun into your life? So ultimate bucket list, what activities or hobbies did you do before your current career or lifestyle that you've lost touch with and you really want to get back to? Or if you've evolved, what new activities do you want to take part in? And when, when are you going to start these? Now with your emotional self, sense of self. I know that all of you have had an elevation of self-belief, self-love, self-care. So your ultimate goal, what is it you want to have? What do you want to be doing? How much self-love and care do you want to infuse into your life? And on a daily basis, if you're not doing it already, or how much more do you want? And when are you going to do this by? And your self-belief, absolutely. So I expect your self-belief to have skyrocketed or remained high if you already had a high self-belief before coming into this program, because your ultimate bucket list for self-belief is to ignore those little voices that are imaginary little voices, that itty-bitty shitty committee, right? That one. What is it you need to do to maintain your self-belief? Is it to enhance your career? Is it to enhance your personal growth? Is it to have more romance? Is it to make better friends or friends that are more aligned with you? Is it to hang around your family or avoid those drainers who are in your life? Is it to find a partner to, um, grow your family? What does it mean to you? Is it your health? Is it focusing on your health? 'Cause when we're healthy, everything else really explodes and expands, and your ultimate bucket list includes everything. Then your business and career. Where do you want to be in your business and career and when? So if you have a big bucket, and I just imagine a very big red bucket, and you, on little pieces of paper, throw all these ideas and goals and where, what you ultimately aim to have, to do, to be in all these areas of your life, throw them in the bucket, and as you remember them, Just keep— it keeps filling the bucket up. So sit down, have a good think, and if you really physically would like a fun activity, get little— get a piece of paper or a couple of pieces of paper, rip some bits up, write your ultimate goals or ultimate things that you want to achieve or see or do or have in your whole life, and put them in that jar. And then when you've got them all in there, and you can keep adding to it, And this is not something that finishes. Your bucket list can continue. It's not like you wake up one day and go, "Oh, that's my bucket list and I'm going to stick with it." Every day, add to this jar. So those who drink coffee, those who have jars of jam that they've used, so any jar, just fold up the little piece of paper with your bucket list. And a really fun thing is to do it with your family too or your partner. Get your kids to write and you write it and you put it all in there. So it becomes a collective fun hub or a collective jar of all your dreams and goals. And then read them all out to each other. Get to know what everybody wants. Make it fun, make it exciting, because now it's on paper. You've put it out there in the universe. You can then grab these little pieces of paper and you can get a big A3 piece of paper or big poster from the newsagent or anywhere, and you put 2 columns on it and put in ultimate bucket list on one side, the other side I did it, right? Go, I did it. And with Blu Tack, so put all of your beautiful bucket list activities, dreams, goals, everything on there, stick them with Blu Tack. Have a look at that every day. So put it somewhere where the whole family sees it, where you see it every day. And then grab it once it's done and put it on the other side, the I did it side. Even print out a photo with it and go, I did it. We take so many photos on our phone. My kids love pressing print because they've got the wireless printer at home, pressing print and printing out photographs, and they just are so proud. They take photos of each other and print them. So do that. Pick a favorite photo of you experiencing that holiday, experiencing that new, um, habit you form for your health, experiencing that financial freedom that you have, and say, I did it, I reached my goal of X amount of dollars, um, in my pocket every month, or this month, or next year, or whenever it is that you've put your timeline for. How fun is that? It's so nice to see them shift from one column to another. You can always add more columns. You can then, if you're really organized, if you like to organize things, I know for me, it's— I love detail as well, so you can put in different subheadings like family, like all these different areas of the wheel of life balance, and then stick them next to those. So you can make 3 columns if you like. Make it yours, make this activity yours. And remember to look at it every day, and as you achieve things, move them over to the 'I did it' side. It is so rewarding. And it reminds you of your goals, your dreams, your ultimate bucket list that you have. Have fun with this and keep adding to it because as your life changes, your dreams expand, and what you can achieve is limitless. See you again.
