Hey there. We're here with major league mindset, a new video series where I interview former professional athletes to help you get a right mindset with your sales career. I'm here with Christina Lacure, who played in the LPGA for three years, former professional female golfer. Welcome, Christina.
Thanks for having me.
All right, I'm gonna ask Christina three questions. Christina, number one, what would you say was the number one mindset you had that allowed you to play professional golf?
I'm gonna kind of flip this on you. So one thing that I, I think there was a lot of professional athletes that did that. In my opinion, now that I no longer play and I've dove into mindset is the fact that I 100% motivated myself with a negative mindset. So my self talk was, you have got to do better. You're not good enough. You are not good enough. Keep going. And now I flipped it with a lot of mindset work. But I know that there's a lot of athletes telling themselves that they're not good enough and that motivates them. And yet that is actually not the best way to motivate. But I think there's a lot of us that did motivate ourselves saying that we're not good enough to get to the next level. It got us high enough, but I believe that we can get much higher with a different mentality.
Really good. A lot of athletes suffer with that. Awesome. With that being said, what would you say are the one or two skills or things you worked on the most when no one was watching that made you the golfer you were?
Consistency. I was willing to do what others weren't. I was willing to putt for six hours in 120 degree heat in Phoenix. No one else was. I was willing to do the hard things when other people were trying to take shortcuts.
Awesome. Last question for the people watching this. If they're a sales professional, what would you say is the number one piece of advice you would give somebody in sales that wants to up level his or her results?
No question, no ifs, ands or buts. Play the long game and human connection. Serve your clients, Go out of your way to make sure that you are serving them the best way possible. My clients on and off the golf course now, I remember their birthday. I know if they own a company that's a trucking company and I drive down the interstate and I see their truck, I send them a text message, say, hey, you know, I just saw your truck. Hope you're having a great day. I know if they love, you know, the Pittsburgh Steelers and they're playing, I will send them a text message and say, hey, good luck in the game today. You're probably not going to get beat by my Cowboys, but good luck. I'm always playing the long game. I'm always serving my clients. That will do you probably. Probably better than anything else.
All right, folks, Christina Lacure, former professional golfer. Thank you. If you're out there, remember, you are always one mindset. Shift away from greatness. That's it for major league mindset. We'll be back next week. Take care.
