114. Why You Must Start Sharing Your Success With The World

Andy Neary says you should publicly share your wins instead of staying quiet about them. He argues self-promotion builds credibility, spreads positivity, and uses examples from insurance advisors and his coaching business to show how client testimonials actually work.

Hey. Hey. Welcome back to Friday Bullpen Sessions. I'm excited today to focus on a topic that has really been near and dear to my heart. It's impacted my life, my business, both in a positive and a negative way. And I thought it would be a great topic to help help so many right now, especially you listening in and that is sharing your wins.
It is something that is so uncomfortable for so many people is letting the world know, quite frankly, how good you are. And now, before I dive into exactly what I'm talking about, about why the world needs to hear about your successes, let me level set real quick. If you are not having any success whatsoever, yet your lack of confidence forces you to bullshit people, that's dangerous. That is not what I'm talking about today. Don't, don't be, don't be spreading word of success that doesn't exist. I am not a proponent of that. That's actually a very, very dangerous place for anybody to be. Why? Because once you get sniffed out, it's a long, difficult road and. But what I want to talk about today is if you're listening in and you're having a lot of success today, whether it's in your business or your life, you need to start sharing it. I can't tell you how many countless conversations I've had with insurance advisors over the past two months that are having a lot of success here in 2021. And this is off the heels of a year where not a whole lot was going on, right? Think about 2020. You may have had a business that was completely shut down because of rules and regulations in the insurance industry. We didn't, we didn't shut down, but we're definitely in what I would call holding pattern. Status quo clients weren't making a whole lot of decisions. So, so the good, good side or good news of that is as agencies, insurance agencies weren' a whole lot of business, but they weren't writing a whole lot of business either because employers were just not making decisions, right? They're, they're trying to make sure they keep the doors open, they keep their employees employed. But to start 2021, I think it was easy to expect more of the same. Let's face it, we're not out of this pandemic or lockdown by any means. And however, I am hearing about a lot of insurance advisors who are off to a very successful start here in 2021. And that's exciting to see and exciting to hear, but here's where so many go. And I think this is going to resonate with you, because it definitely resonates with me. They're afraid to share that success, especially in an environment we live in today where, let's be honest, so much negativity is being spread, whether it's through the news feeds or the social media feeds. What I call for a lack of better words, the whole hummery of life is being promoted right now. And so if you're actually in a good place with your business, your life.
You might be hesitant to share that. You might be hesitant to share the victories that you have right now. But today I want to give you permission to be completely okay with sharing your success. In fact, I'm going to tell you the world needs to hear about your successes. In fact, your business needs to hear about your successes. Now, this applies to you if you are trying to grow your business. It applies to you in your personal life. Hell, if you're an athlete listening in and you're trying to get the, the attention of a recruiter, this applies to you as well. You have to share your victories. You have to share your successes. So let me talk about how this has impacted my life, both good and bad. I grew up in a family that's extremely humble. I have two of the greatest parents I think any kid could ever ask for. But they are both very, very humble individuals. In fact, if you throw a compliment their way, they tend to deflect it by maybe cutting themselves down by maybe downplaying their success. And it also reminds me, this reminds me of a quote from a podcast I recently listened to between Brad Lee and Ed Mylett, where Ed Mylett challenges Bradley to recognize that he downplays the impact others are telling him he has on the world. And Ed said, if you continue downplaying that impact, your life will continue playing down to you. And I thought that was. Man, that was a mind blowing comment because it stopped me in my tracks. And it's true. If you don't share your successes, if you don't realize the impact you are having on your friends, your family, your clients, your life is going to continue playing down to the way you're thinking.
And this goes for sharing successes. I just had a conversation with one of my clients, she's an insurance advisor in Texas and she just started her business maybe 14, 15 months ago and 2021 has been an amazing year for her. And she called me because she was nervous. She called me because she.
Didn'T know how to share those successes. She was nervous to let others know that her business is growing. She was Nervous to even share that she has more prospects coming in than she knows what to do with.
Because of what others might think or say. And I knew exactly where she was coming from When I started this coaching business, hell, go back seven years when I started growing my personal brand and I wanted to use the platform of public speaking to grow my business. There's a lot of self promotion that has to go into that to earn the opportunities you want to try to attain. And it is hard to self promote. But here's a couple mindset shifts I want to give you today that I think will help you realize that it is important. Hell, it's imperative that you do it if you want to have success again, business and in life. Now I will repeat, if you are not winning right now, if you're not having success and you are falsely letting other know others know, that is, that is bullshitting. People don't do that. That's not a good place to be. This message is if you're winning and you are afraid to share it right now, and if you're not winning right now, let's go back and put the right habits in place so you can start getting on the right side of victory, so you then can start going and sharing those victories. But if you are having a lot of Success here in 2021 right now, here's why it's important. The world needs to hear about your successes first and foremost. At a macro level, we need more positivity in this world. I just said minutes ago. Whether it's the news feed, the social media feed, hell, it could be the friends you're surrounding yourself with. There is so much negative pressure being applied to our lives right now. As an optimistic guy, I sometimes find myself struggling with all the negativity. It's like it's its own atmosphere right now on this planet. So number one, the world needs to hear more positivity. And it starts with you sharing your victories. Now, number two, from a business standpoint, the reason you need to share your victories is it creates credibility.
If you let your audience, your prospects know that your business is having success, whether that is it's growing, it's hitting its goals, it's acquiring new clients, or you sharing the success your current clients are having.
That tells your buyer, your future buyer, that you know what the hell you're doing, that you must be good at what you do. Especially in 2021 when so many are still contracting or just trying to stay alive. If you're having success, man, that is the positive energy. I want to latch onto so it creates that credibility that you, your business needs so that you can grow or continue scaling and continue growing. The second reason you have to share it is nobody else is going to share it for you. That's the one I had to learn the hard way with this coaching business is I didn't have anybody to lean on anymore that was going to promote my business. Now when I get client referrals, testimonials, great. I love it. I am so grateful, so blessed to have them come into my business. But outside of those referrals and testimonials, no one's going to toot the horn for me. I have to go toot it. So trust me, when I put a social media post out there that is talking about a success, one of my clients has talks about why my coaching is the best coaching out there for you. I don't enjoy doing that. That is extremely uncomfortable for me. Again, I grew up in a very humble family. You don't brag when there's victories, you downplay them. But that also led to a lot of mediocrity in my life. And if I was wanted to grow my coaching business, I had to toot the horn. And so that is really a big reason why it is so important for you to start tuting yours as well. There is nobody else out there who's, who's going to grow your business for you outside of you.
So I'm giving you permission today that if you are growing, you're winning your success, clients are having success, or again, you're an athlete listening in and you're having an unbelievable season and you're trying to get the attention recruiters, you got to let them know no one's going to do it for you.
Now, the third reason.
This is much more tactical is I hear it all the time. When your clients are having success, this has more business application than it does personal application. When you have clients having success and they're willing to provide a testimonial, they're willing to provide a referral and go on social media, write a letter, whatever it is, to let them know all about the successes they're having with you, the happiness they have with you, there's a reluctance to share that. It blows me away how many times I have insurance advisors tell me, Andy, I don't know if I want to share a case study, a testimonial from one of my clients on LinkedIn because my competition's watching. And if they see who my clients are, they're going to want to go after them. Well, let me. Let me set the record straight real clear here. Number one, they already know that that client is your client. But number two, this is the mindset shift you need to make. If one of your clients is willing to write a testimonial or even.
Much larger, do a video or allow you to share their victories on social media, do you believe that client is going anywhere anytime soon? Hell, no.
But when you share the wins your clients are having by accessing your services again, you're letting people know that you know what the hell you're doing. It's that positive energy that they are dying to feed off of right now. So that's my advice to you today. Take it from somebody who has struggled for a long, long time to share successes, to share wins, to.
Realize the impact I'm having on this world. And you need to do the same. So, number one, you need to share it, because the world needs that positivity right now. It's okay to feel good. Number two, you have to do it because no one else is going to do it for you. You have to toot your own horn. And number three, like I said, if you have the hesitation of sharing client victories for the fear that the competition's going to come hounding those clients, they are not leaving you if they're willing to share their happiness. So share away. Share far and wide. Because when you do, what you're going to create is a positive impact on those around you, a positive impact on your prospects, a positive impact on your business. Like attracts like. So share those successes. Share those victories. We want to hear them. Hell, we need to hear them. And that one mindset shift is going to take your business, your life, or your athletic endeavors farther than it ever could before. So take that advice. Run with it. When clarity and confidence collide, you know what happens. Massive action happens. Go make it happen today.
