Focus on Your MESSAGE, Not PERFECTION!

Andy Neary says creators obsess over technical perfection when they should focus on their message. He records on an iPhone and compares overthinking to a pitcher losing the zone. Your story matters more than your camera, lighting, or background.

In sports, they call it being in the zone. If you ever ask an athlete what it's like to be in the zone, he or she will tell you that it's a magical place.
It's a place where you don't have.
To think, you just do. And you know that no matter what action you take, it's going to work out. Some of the best games I ever had on the pitcher's mound were when.
I was in the zone. I didn't have to think. I had a hundred percent confidence. I knew exactly where the pitch was going. I get the ball from the catcher, and I get right back on the mound and go right back at the batter. Now, did I miss my target once in a while?
Absolutely. Did I throw it high and tight a little bit? Absolutely.
But that's the kind of pitcher batters.
Fear, the ones that get right back on the mound and they go right back at you.
Now, some of the worst games I ever had on the pitcher's mound, when.
I thought too much, I tried to be perfect. So I would try to nibble on.
The corners, I'd aim the ball a little too much, and what would happen.
Is I would miss my target. The ball would end up a little too far over the plate, and 400ft later, the batter's rounding the bases and scoring a run. Why do I share this with you? Because that's exactly what is happening with your content.
You're thinking too much.
You're trying to be perfect.
You're worried about what camera you should use.
You're worried about the type of lighting you should have.
You're worried about your background and the environment you're in. And you are completely forgetting about having a good message.
If you want to be in the zone, focus on your message. Because once you have your message down and the story you want to share.
The way you share it doesn't matter.
I'm doing this video on the iPhone. So my point to you is this.
Quit worrying about being perfect.
Quit trying to nibble and be cute with your social media content.
Just do.
Get in the zone and just take action.
Get the ball back from the catcher.
Get on the mound and go right.
Back at the batter. Don't worry about the equipment, don't worry.
About the lighting, don't worry about the environment.
Just start producing.
Because the world wants to hear your message, and it doesn't care how you share it. It just wants to hear a good message.
