Andy Neary advises financial advisors to use LinkedIn as a business-to-business platform and to focus on sharing personal stories that teach a lesson relevant to their audience. He recommends using video or images as part of branding and suggests advisors share relatable journeys (e.g., as entrepreneurs) to attract ideal clients.
So I tell a lot of advisors who are looking to get better on LinkedIn, because honestly, as advisors, you just need to stick on LinkedIn. It's business to business platform. Right.
If you just want to share personal stories and look at me, go to Facebook, go to Instagram. That's what that stuff's for. Right. But if you actually want to take your LinkedIn content to the next level, your ability to get on video or even share pictures of you, which is a struggle for a lot of people, but it's part of branding. And you're able to tell me a lesson, an event, a story, something from your life, but you pass on the lesson it taught you to me, and it teaches me something that is going to be the fastest way for me to get to know you or like you. And so content creation. I tell people, start there, just start sharing stories about you, but turn them into lessons your audience could learn. And I don't care what it is in your life, everybody has got a story. Here's a great example. We're going to start workshopping right away. Let's do it. I have a client right now. He fucking focuses on working with small businesses in California. That's a small group. And he struggles. He's like, Andy, I don't know what story to share. I said.
Didn'T you just start your agency not that long ago? Yep. So you yourself are a small business and an entrepreneur. Yeah. As are your prospects. Yeah. Just start sharing your journey as an entrepreneur, as a small business owner, because you're telling their story. That's gonna get your ideal prospects to go. Yeah, I've gone through that too. I like this guy, he gets me. And guess who they're going to hire as their advisor.
