PLEASE ... Start Putting Yourself OUT THERE!!

Andy Neary argues that selling directly on social media fails. Instead, share authentic stories to build familiarity and trust. People buy from those they know and like, not from accounts trying to close deals.

So when are you gonna finally put yourself out there? What's it gonna take? I've been having far too many zoom chats and phone conversations with people I'm meeting on social media. Old colleagues who all have the goal of growing their business right now. But their number one challenge is not enough people know who they are, not enough people know about their product or service. They're stuck in the noise. So I ask them, are you getting on social media? Immediately I get yeah. But I've done that and it doesn't work. Doesn't work for me. Here's why you are trying to sell on social media. You're going to platforms like LinkedIn and you're trying to sell people, and you're missing the point. Social media is not about selling. It's about creating awareness. This is a game of attention. And if you want to grow your business, you need attention. It comes down to who knows you, likes you and trusts you. And when you put yourself out there on social media, the real you, and you're posting from the heart, not for the metrics. People start to know you, and if they really like your content, they like you. And you're two thirds of the way home and you haven't even met them yet. Because when they connect with you and they actually trust you, business happens. So I ask you again, what's it going to take for you to put yourself out there? Because when you do, when you show the world the real you, you resonate with the target audience. You actually can never make a bad connection when you show your true self. So please, go out and start sharing your story, your company's message, your brand, because your target audience is waiting to hear it.
