Hey. Hey. Happy Friday. It is time for Friday Bullpen Sessions. My name is Andy Neary and this is episode 26. Today we're going to dive into personal accountability and are you taking enough of it right now? It is so easy to blame external factors, right? If you are not where you want to be, you may be out of a job, you may be in a job you don't like, your business is growing or unfortunately, your business is shut down right now due to all of the variables that we are facing. There's just a lot of negativity going on right now and it is so easy to point the finger and talk about the things that are out of your control. Now, before we dive into this topic, because this is going to be a very, very important topic, I want to quickly remind you, if you are struggling with your business right now, if you're not growing as fast as you want, I'm here to tell you that it's because your message isn't clear enough and it's because you're not garnering enough attention. There's a lot of noise in the market today. I don't care what industry you're in. And it's a game of attention. And so if you are going to grow your business, you're going to increase your revenue, you have to get more attention. You have to do it with a message your target audience understands clearly. If you know you need help with that, I want to invite you to join me next week, Thursday, June 11, 1:30 Eastern, that is 10:30 Pacific, for a quick webinar to talk about the three steps to mastering your brand message to to win more business. You're not going to want to miss this. I put the link in the notes below. Go register jump on this webinar next week so we can help you out. Take, we can help you take your business to the next level. Now let's get back into personal accountability. This is a very hot topic. Now what's interesting though, just so you know, is every week I record these Friday bullpen sessions. On Monday I get pre prepared, have the topic so that I can post this on Friday morning for you to listen to. So today I' literally recording this on Monday, June 1st. Start of a new month, man. And it seems like the start of a whole new world in this country, especially if you are in the United States. There is a lot of negativity going on right now. It's sad. It's sad that we are so divided. There is a big gap between black and white, Democrat, Republican, age Sex, gender, you name it. And it's really sad. It's really frustrating. And I think a lot of this stems from the fact that people are pointing fingers. You know, when I go back to my days playing baseball, I've shared this with you before. I was a captain on almost every team that I participated in, from little League to high school to college. And one thing as a captain.
That you have to take 100% responsibility for is to ensure that your team is winning as a team as well as losing as a team. Because when you're winning, man, is it easy to talk about the team culture and having a great locker room and everybody's in it together, Everybody knows their role. But when you start losing, you start seeing people's true colors, right? Some absolutely step up as leaders. Others start pointing the fingers at teammates saying, it's not my fault. I did my thing. I played my role. And it's really easy to start pointing the finger at the coach, right? Start blaming him or her for your team's inability to win. You know, a lot of you know as well that my father was a longtime high school baseball coach. And I think one of the toughest things about being a coach today in any sport at any level is you often don't get any praise when the times are good, and you get all the blame when your team is losing, right? Man, some of the stuff my dad used to hear late in his career, when his teams probably weren't as successful as they could be, all the blame was thrown on him, right? And when a team's winning, when the motor, the momentum is on your team's side, it's all about the players and their talent level. And so, like I said, again, it's so easy when you're winning to talk about the team effort and how great of a team culture you have. But when a team is losing.
Now, the fingers start getting pointed. You look up to management and leadership and go, hmm, it is you. It's why you are, why we're losing. I did my job, and that's what's happening right now. Especially, again, if you are living in the United States, I'm here to tell you, we are one big team, and we're losing right now. I don't care what color you are, I don't care what race you are. I don't care what gender you are, what sex you are. We are all one team. And when you lose as a team, when you're losing as a team, the number one thing you have to do right now is Instead of pointing fingers outward, start pointing that thumb in your direction, look in the mirror and say, what role am I playing in all of this? I shared a video earlier this week about this exact same topic. Because you might be sitting there when I say what role you're playing, going, andy, are you kidding me? I've had nothing to do with this. Ha ha ha. Hold on a second here.
You may have had more of a role than you think. I want you to look in the mirror and I want you to go, you know, in the past few months, if I talked negatively about somebody, whether it's co worker, my family, a friend, if you have.
You'Ve contributed to the losing we are facing right now, I know I'm guilty of that. If you have let the negativity that is spewing from the media outlets today impact your conversations, impact the tone of what you are saying, you have played your part in us losing. If you find yourself pointing that finger outward saying, I'm not succeeding in business, I don't have a job right now because of something or somebody else, you are contributing to us losing, here's the deal. I talk about sports in every one of these bullpen sessions because sports teaches us so many lessons. And the number one thing a team has to do when it's losing is every single player on that team has to look at himself or herself and say, I take 100% responsibility for our loss.
You see, when you start taking 100% responsibility, personal responsibility for your current situation right now, even if you were. Even, even if you were let go from your job due to downsizing because of the pandemic because of the virus, take a minute to figure out what role you played. Because when you realize.
That you are completely in control of all your decisions and you take 100% personal responsibility for every situation you find yourself in, life shit gets a lot easier. And you start taking control. You start realizing that every action, every has a reaction. And every action you take from here moving forward is in your control. You see.
Right now the universe is testing us. Right now, the universe is trying to make a big shift. And our responsibility as a society, whether it's our country or this global, this world as a whole, is to vibrate at its highest frequency possible. That includes you, that includes me. We are one team. So I ask you today, I'm not going to share any tips, any strategies today. I'm just asking you today to take personal responsibility, 100% accountability for your actions, your words, and your mindset.
Because if you do that If I do that, and everybody else in this country, in this world, plays their role in this, guess what? Our future is going to look a hell of a lot brighter, my friends.
So no matter how much negativity there is out there today.
I want you to start taking control. Take control of your actions, your thoughts, your conversations. Because when you turn that from the pessimism, the negativity that's happening to optimism, to what our future could look like, it's going to get a lot easier for you, your environment is going to get a lot brighter, and your future is going to get a lot happier. So I end with this today.
Whatever you do today, wherever you find yourself, I want you to understand we are all in this together. We are on one team. And when we win as a team, we must lose as a team. And it won't be long before momentum starts swinging back in our direction when we start winning as a country, as a world. So the best way we can get there, the quickest way we can get there, is for you, for I, for everybody, to figure out what role we're, take 100% responsibility for it and start controlling our actions moving forward. So go out today, put a smile on your face, put a smile on somebody else's face and just take control. And until next week, when clarity and confidence collides, you know what happens? Action happens. And that's what I'm asking you to do today. Take action. And please, if you haven't subscribed to the podcast yet, do me a favor. Go to itunes, go to Spotify, Subscribe.
