Andy Neary (host) delivers a short motivational video urging employers and benefits leaders to change their mindset when designing health plans in 2019. Rather than making incremental tweaks (broker, insurer, deductible, premiums), he recommends a fundamental reframing—take inspiration from disruptive innovations (Henry Ford, Uber, Airbnb) to redesign how plans are conceived to improve outcomes, predictability, and access.

Welcome back to striking out the status quo. So here we are. It's a new year with new goals and I want to share mine with you. This year, I'm on a mission to help you and your team be better today than you were yesterday and even better tomorrow than you are today. And I'm going to do that by helping you shift your mindset and helping you go farther with your health care budget on less effort. So today, let's talk about change. You might be looking to make some changes to your health plan this year, but before you go about doing that, I want you to think about something. Think about what Henry Ford, Uber and Airbnb have in common. You see, Henry Ford didn't just build a faster horse, he revolutionized the way we travel. Uber, they didn't look to design a better looking yellow taxi. And Airbnb had no desire to design a better looking hotel room. No, all three of them completely shifted the mindset around how people travel and sleep. So this year, when you're looking to make changes to your health plan, you might be looking to change their broker, change the insurance company, change your deductibles, or even the premium contributions. But the most important change you can make to the health plan in 2019 is your mindset about how you go about designing the health plan. If you are truly invested in creating better outcomes this year, creating more predictability and and giving your employees better access to healthcare, follow in the footsteps of Henry Ford, Uber and Airbnb. Don't just make tweaks to the already existing plan. Completely change your mindset about how you go about designing the plan altogether. And that's my goal with these videos, is to help you accomplish this. That. So until next week, bear down, focus on the target and strike out the status quo.
