Hey. Hey. New week with new opportunities. Are you ready to get after it? This week I'm gonna walk you through some simple tips to help you make your first videos. Let's get going. Shift your mindset. Alright? Yes, I said videos. Yes, I believe you should be making videos and I know that makes you freeze up when I say that. But here's the reality. Video content is the most effective way you are gonna connect with your target prospects. Because with video you're giving them a chance to know you, like you and trust you. And it's going to be the most effective way. You are going to create a brand and establish some authority in your market. But you have to get going now. Honestly, if video is not your thing, you don't need to do it. But I am highly urging to you. So where do you start? Let's create some simple steps. Let me give you some simple tips to help you get going. So step one and creating video content is the most important step, most important tip I'm going to give you. And it starts here. You just have to know you're not going to be perfect, not even close. But you just have to get going. And you're going to get better over time with consistency and practice. But those first videos are not going to be that good. But here is the beautiful thing. It's 2021. People don't want perfect, they just want to see you. They want to see the human version of you, the raw version of you. Creating video and screwing up has never been more advantageous because that's what people want. In fact, I have tweaked how I edit my videos. Yes, the fancy brackets and the captions and the beauty of the video isn't what it used to be. People don't want to see that as much. They just want to see you. So you just have to get going. You have to realize you're not going to be perfect. That is step one. Step two, let's talk equipment. You could go out and purchase fancy cameras for hundreds of thousands of dollars. That's your thing. Go for it. I'm going to be purchasing some equipment here to up level my content. But I'm here to tell you, for the last three years I have created video for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook. Pretty dang good in my opinion, with nothing more than my iPhone. That's it. So if you've got an iPhone, you've got a Samsung. That's all you need to get started. And here's the beautiful thing. IPhone 11s 12s, the quality of the camera now is as good as some of the canons and high end cameras out there today. So just start hitting play on your phone now. Time to hit play. What do you do? What do you look like? What do you say? Let's start with what you look like. This is where people go wrong. Because I know for a fact if you and I were sitting down, having a cup of coffee, you'd be relaxed, right? You'd be in flow, you'd be talking to me, you'd be sipping the coffee, enjoying it. But all of a sudden, for whatever reason, when you get behind that camera, you stiffen up. And then you become a different version of yourself. Stop. You have to remember, when you are talking into the camera, you're talking into nothing more than your phone in your living room, dining room or office. That's it. And so you just have to imagine that you are sitting down having a cup of coffee with a friend. That is really all it is. Because if you and I were sitting down having that cup of coffee at the coffee shop and I asked you for some advice about health insurance, you know, you could talk for hours, you could give me advice, you could give me tips, suggestions to help me, right? That's all you're going to do on camera. So quit imagining there's a thousand eyeballs on the other side. Quit worrying about what those thousand eyeballs are going to say or think. Because you're only talking to one person. In fact, you're literally only talking to a dot on your phone. So quit imagining the amount of people that may be seeing it and just realize you're talking to one person. Now, what the heck do you say when you get on camera? This is where you can separate yourself. Now, before I get there, I want to make this tip. For most people, right before they hit the play button, they feel this nervousness. And it comes out in two ways. Number one, it comes out in you being stiff and you talking bad. Very monotone when you're not a monotone at all. And number two, it comes out with nervous energy. You'll see people moving a lot. In fact, this is how I used to be. I used to be a swayer. All that is is nothing more than nervous energy. So here's how you fix that. If you feel that nervousness coming on right before you're about to hit the play button, two exercises you can do. Ready? First one is I want you to stretch your face out and get your voice going. Really? It's going to look like this.
Ah. Ah. I know. Ridiculous, right? But literally, you need to stretch out your face muscles just like you would stretch out your legs before running because you need to get the face ready to talk. So stretch out the muscles, stretch out the voice. Yes, it literally looks like this.
Stretch out the tongue, whatever you got to do. Number two, when you feel that nervous energy, just do some toe raises. You see nervous energy tries to exit our body through a couple vehicles. Our mouth, our head, sweat, and our toes, our feet. So if you just do 2, 3, 4 toe raises right before going on camera, it'll help calm you down. So stretch out the face, toe raises to take away the nervousness and you will be ready to just be you on camera. Now, the last piece here is. What do you say? This is the game changer. This is what takes your content, your video content from subpar to average to amazing within weeks. If you just practice and put some consistency to it. The best thing you can do on video is to teach and to share personal stories. What do I mean? If you come on camera and you just teach, you already know how to do that. You're a subject matter expert. Just bring as much value as you can to the camera. That is one of the most effective ways you are going to connect with your audience because you are helping them win. And then when you're talking about your area of subject matter expertise again, you can do that for hours. Number two, sharing personal stories. If you have the ability to think about stories in your life, hobbies, passions, an event, something that changed your life, and you're able to do that in a way where you can storytell. Just tell me the story in your own words. What happened to you? The event you went through, the tragedy. The tragedy you went through. But then you can tie it into a lesson that helped you, that could help me. Whoo. That becomes the game changer in your video content. So when it comes to what you say, if you just focus on educating the crap out of your audience and you just tell me some stories about you, that lets me get to know you, but involve lessons that you have learned that I too can learn. You are now giving me a chance to go. Not only do I like this person because they bring me value, I am starting to really trust them because they are helping me win. They're bringing a ton of value to my life. That is how you take your video content to the next level. So get started today. It's as simple as knowing you're not going to be perfect. You need nothing more than your iPhone or your Samsung. Remember when you're about to hit play, you're just talking to that one dot on your camera. If you feel nervous, stretch out the face, do some toe raises, and then when it comes time to hit play, just imagine you're having coffee with a friend and you're just giving them advice. And if you just focus on education, you focus on sharing stories about you, including the lessons you've learned, you will be blown away by the connections you create with your audience and by the business opportunities they lead. So get after it today. You know where to find me if you have any questions, but this is a very simple, step by step process to help you make your first videos and then help you get consistent as hell after that. So go make it happen. 2020 is waiting for you to do some amazing things, and video content can help you get there. Folks.
