You Need to Have Non-Negotiables in Your Life!

Andy Neary argues you need non-negotiables in your life, using daily exercise as his example. He says it makes him his best for others, and compares it to the airplane oxygen mask: you have to take care of yourself first before you can help anyone else.

Good morning and Happy New Year. Now I know there's going to be people on LinkedIn ripping on me because I've got a bandana on and an exercise shirt. But oh well, you see, it's early morning and I'm about to go work out. So today I want to talk about non negotiables. Exercising is a non negotiable for me. I have to do it every day. Why? Because if I exercise, I am taking care of myself to be my best so I can bring my best to you. In the past I used to let people make me feel selfish for exercising. If I were hanging out with family or friends, they would guilt me into not working out because they weren't doing it themselves. Not anymore. Exercise is a non negotiable. Even when I'm on the road, I'm traveling, I will break away from hanging out with people to go work out so I can come back energized to bring my best back to them. So what are your non negotiables that you're going to bring to your daily life this year? It's not selfish. Guys. Think of the old airplane analogy when you're sitting there and they're telling you that you need to put your mask on first before you can put anybody else's on. Why do they tell you that? Because you got to be prepared first. You got to take care of yourself first before you can take care of anybody else. It's interesting. When I coach insurance advisors, they're often surprised that we spend a lot of time on their personal life, their non negotiables, even as much as their business goals and their business strategies. Why? Because if you're not taking care of yourself, you can't be good in business. It's that simple. So what are your non negotiables you're going to bring to your daily life this year? I want you to list those in the comments below. Because when you take care of yourself first every single day, I promise you, you will bring your best to your prospects, your clients, your family and your friends.
