A founder built a $70-75 million company entirely remote, then opened a physical office anyway. He says remote silos were blocking growth, and the shared space was needed to scale further.
One thing that I find interesting about you is that I believe you had a virtual company for quite a while and then pivoted into having an office. Have you found that being in an office removes some of those silos for you? What made you decide to go all in to get the office? And someone's still virtual. I'm really curious about this and I want to know.
Everybody thinks I'm an idiot for doing this. Like, you have ultimate freedom, time and location freedom. And we had scaled to $70 or $75 million at the time that we opened our office.
But I just looked around and said, what got us here won't get us there.
I was looking around for companies that were bigger than us that were virtual, and I could count maybe 5. And I looked at all of the similar companies that were bigger than us, and I said, oh, that's interesting. Commonality, they all have an in-person office. And so I decided to do it.
